Now they've done it...
New wording for Metro unlock policy:

https://www.metrobyt-mobile.com/t...ock-policy

"Unlock eligibility requirements
We unlock mobile devices that meet the following eligibility criteria free of charge:

The device must be purchased from Metro by T-Mobile.
The device must not be reported as lost, stolen or blocked.
Three hundred sixty-five (365) days must have passed since the device's activation date."

Should obviously only apply to purchases made after they changed the rules.
But might have to fight for that...
scroll down to Port your Google Voice number out to another carrier

https://support.google.com/voice/...5667?hl=en

Account is GV Number no dashes and need Setup Voicemail PIN is Port PIN if not setup that yet

to setup the voicemail pin have go to settings and enable Call to listen Check and manage your voicemails by calling your Google Voice number.

https://voice.google.com/u/0/settings#voicemail
Your account number is your google voice phone number. The pin is the one you set up in Google voice to check voice messages.

Got my phone today and activated. Logged into account and verified that Autopay is turned off.

Got an e-mail congratulating on activation but there is a line that also says "Monthly recurring charges: $40.00". Was this just poorly worded?

Folks, anyone who bought phone from Metro 6 months ago having trouble unlocking?

I bought Stylus 5G 2023 and today is the 183th day since I got the "You did it! Your phone is active" email.

I tried the "Device Unlock" App.

Initially it says "

Unable to connect to the
server at this time. Please
try again later.

(SERVER COMMUNICATION
ERROR: ERROR CODE=502
MSG=SERVER_NOT_REAC
HABLE)
"

When I hit "CONTINUE". It says

"
You have not met the following requirements to fully unlock your device.

x Device must be used on this phone number for 180 days
"

The MetroPCS SIM is in the phone the whole 6 months. I have activated for 30 days. Used it to make phone calls. And then I let it expire.

Anyone in similar situation or have successfully unlocked Stylus 5G 2023 recently?
Sometime it takes little longer to unlock.

Restart your phone. You must have connected to wifi network while metro sim is in the phone.

If everything fails contact them on twitter. I know very few people had issues unlocked Samsung A54 but majority got success (including me).

Yeah, I ignored it and hope for the best. I don't think they have the right to recharge us without our permissions because this is a prepaid plan.

You are not supposed to delete your GV number while the carrier is trying to transfer the number from GV, otherwise you will get a problem on your call. No wonder now you get an issue. But in your case, you doesn't care about the number and just want to get an unlock after 6 months, so I guess it is ok for you.
Yeah, almost everyone who is porting using a GV number (including yourself) doesn't care if everything is working (the internet is blazing fast on the 5G network).

In fact, Metro got the number on their network, and reprovision is possible. Someone did that, and everything started working for some period of time and stopped working again. I am not even using that phone apart from making odd calls or updating the browser or OS periodically.

In your case, find a family member who has a different credit card and an obliviously different name (the same address is fine; there's no need to look out for a friend or relative unless you're single). Porting will work on their name, as I did exactly the same thing last year when Metro blocked me.

Anyone else get this with an unlocked Google Voice number? And now the PIN option in the GV iOS app is missing too.

Your number transfer cannot be transferred at this time.
You must cancel your transfer to continue.

Generate the pin by going to settings -> Voice Mail, I don't remember exactly, but it was last option, where you have to toggle, and it will prompt to set the pin.

I did that... And now the option is missing. My other Google account GV number still shows the option. It's almost like Google thinks the number is in the process of being ported out, but Metro thinks it can't be.

go to voice.google.com and hit the settings, then enable the "listen to voicemail" and it will ask you for a 4 digit pin. Save it, that's your new pin. Mine transferred fine.

Otherwise, use another gmail and setup a new GV number, set the pin, pay the $3 for unlock and you are ready to go.

If you add a second line to the first $65 line then it's just $30 for the 2nd line it seems. Great deal, thanks OP!

Weird, that option was disabled. Enabled it, set new pin, and Metro is still spinning...

Edit: Same issue. The Lock button is now also missing in GV settings.

I see, that indeed sounds like it's in progress somehow. If Metro is not doing anything with it it may show up again in a few days. I would wait. Did you try to call that number from another phone?
