Now they've done it...
New wording for Metro unlock policy:

https://www.metrobyt-mobile.com/t...ock-policy

"Unlock eligibility requirements
We unlock mobile devices that meet the following eligibility criteria free of charge:

The device must be purchased from Metro by T-Mobile.
The device must not be reported as lost, stolen or blocked.
Three hundred sixty-five (365) days must have passed since the device's activation date."

Should obviously only apply to purchases made after they changed the rules.
But might have to fight for that...

Your account number is your google voice phone number. The pin is the one you set up in Google voice to check voice messages.

You should be very happy to get that RAZR phone, so far I have spent $15 for 5 GV numbers and never got a completed order. Now I have 5 GV with only a delete button without lock protection on my GV accounts and they are all invalid for reordering at MetroPCS.
I tried a few times yesterday to add a phone to my existing account. Each time it failed, the GV number was locked up for a few hours, then it was available to try again .

Did it end up working? I have yet to get a successful order/port after the first one failed, even if Metro says the number is eligible.

Nope. I've tried all 3 browsers (Firefox, Chrome, Edge) using 3 different accounts. Never had any problems ordering from Metro using those accounts and browsers until yesterday when I tried to add a line to an existing account. I'll try incognito mode next.

Yep, I also see iphone 11 now 49.99. With tax and $65 plan, it'll be $115 for me. Not much profit to be made. No Deal.

Thank you. My theory is that one failed attempt of a GV port will lock out that number for all subsequent attempts. (IDK if its the fault of GV or Metro).

So basically you get one shot to get it to go through, if not you need to find another port number.

I don't know. In subsequent attempts with different browsers and accounts, the GV number (freed up after a few hours) passed the check and was successfully "reserved" to Metro for porting in. That was before the order was submitted. So I don't think the GV number caused the failure of the order.

Who knows why it fails, it could be for any number of reasons, but my experience was:

GV1: Got to verification step but somehow failed.
GV1: Failed Attempt.
GV2: Pass iphone 12.
GV1: Multiple failed attempts.

I might try GV3 to see, but I'm waiting to see if the Galaxy a55 comes out soon. I would like to get one of those to be a daily driver.

Hmmm, snarky! May be you can also tell me if this requires active service for 180 days before it can be unlocked

I've had issues in the past about iPhones being unable to be unlocked without service at the 180 days. I believe Metro blacklists the IMEI so the Apple servers won't unlock them. Android phones seem to be fine without some strange backfoolery occuring.

Just got iPhone 12 order to go through now using MS Edge (InPrivate mode) for $165+tax via Google Voice port in.
Pro tip: make sure the Zip Code Metro asks you for is the correct one listed on your Google (Gmail) account info. Suspect that might have been the conflict for me yesterday.

FYI: Yesterday my order failed using Firefox (got the "Please contact us...your security is important" message). After the order didn't go through, Metro locked up the GV number until I tried for the third time today. Second attempt to get the order to go through yesterday returned "number invalid" error message or something like that as Metro hadn't released the hold on my GV number yet following the first attempt.
Good luck SD'ers, keep trying - it is possible
