Now they've done it...
New wording for Metro unlock policy:

https://www.metrobyt-mobile.com/t...ock-policy

"Unlock eligibility requirements
We unlock mobile devices that meet the following eligibility criteria free of charge:

The device must be purchased from Metro by T-Mobile.
The device must not be reported as lost, stolen or blocked.
Three hundred sixty-five (365) days must have passed since the device's activation date."

Should obviously only apply to purchases made after they changed the rules.
But might have to fight for that...
scroll down to Port your Google Voice number out to another carrier

Wait a while (4-6 hrs) for the failed order(s) to be purged from Metro system, then you'll again see the option to add a line. Been there, done that on Wednesday. I thought they had blacklisted me, but I got the Add-a-Line option again on Thursday and Friday. Finally succeeded in adding a line on Friday evening.
What about your number? Though my order was failed I received a port out email from my previous carrier and metro won't allow me to port in that number either.

Its all up in the air. My order failed last night but my carrier released the number. Now I hve no service and no number to port. My carrier agreed to retrieve and reactivate the number but its been in limbo since 11AM and its 5 PM now. In hindsight I should've just gotten a number from ebay/ google voice.
But in general Metro's systems are absolutely trash.

I was using a GV number. When the order failed, I waited about 4 hrs and was able to try the same number again. If Metro hasn't freed up that number yet, I got the message "Sorry this number can't be ported right now" (or similar wording). I've successully ported in three GV numbers but Google didn't send any email (yet) that the number was ported out. I don't know about a non-GV number.

Does anyone know what happens in the following scenario: You have a line that is paid up to say 3-25-24. You place an order for a new line and get one of these deals here. Activate 2nd line say on 3-12-24. Let the 1st line go unpaid OR port out the # of the 1st line. NOW how does that affect the 2nd line which was activated on 3-12-24 AND/OR the entire account on which these 2 lines were on?? Anyone know? TIA

Questions for those who have received and activated the 2nd phone (purchased as Add A Line):
1. Do you see two different billing cycles for the 2 lines in the account, or they use the same billing cycle? If same cycle, does it have the billing end date of the 1st line or of the 2nd line?
2. Since the two phones have different phone numbers, do you still log into the account with the phone number of the 1st line?
3. When Metro texts the 6-digit security code, does it go to the 1st phone or the 2nd phone?

Thanks in advance for your replies.

I can answer this as I have 2 lines:

1) Billing cycle is always the same. It defaults to the end date of the 1st line. Meaning your 2nd order's billing cycle would be truncated to match the 1st (do not get the full 30 days for the 2nd order).

2) You can login to the account with either phone number. If you click on the My account, system shows both the phone numbers, with the payment due date 30 days after the date of the 1st order activation.

3) The activation code would go to whichever phone you used to login. You can use either phone number to login as the PIN code is the same for the account. The verification OTP would go to the phone you logged in with.

Ok, here what I am seeing but still trying to sort it out.Hope someone has the answers from past experiense.
1. I see the same due date BUT the total is not $40 BUT $46 and change. I believe they prorate the 2nd line to the due date of the 1st and then will use the $40 of the 2nd line you paid up during purchase until the next billing due date which will make it then $80 for the next payment. I am almost sure of this.
2. I have logged in with the first line phone and see both lines listed.
3. The txt code is going to go to the phone # you tell them you are calling about. Not 100% on this because I always called from the first (original) line, but since it is use to authenticate you as the legal owner (to eliminate someone who may have hacked your account I suppose). SO THEREFORE, that is hy I also asked the question just before yours, to see if there is any more stuff to worry about from happening....or SURPRISES!!!

Just curious, what was the 2nd phone you ordered? I know the 1st one was the iPhone 12 IIRC.

Yes, I totally agree with him. I have two phone lines and one tablet.

If you order lines from the same account, they will be listed under that account (no matter which device you choose to login to). I am happy not to deal with Metro, and earlier they finish my billing cycle, better it is.

Once you receive the second phone you just ordered and activate it, you should be able to order the third shortly after.
Unfortunately my third order failed (after I activated the second device online) and I got that dreaded check-out error page at the last minute ("Your security is important to us. Unfortunately can't complete your order online. Our award-winning Mobile Experts are ready to assist you. Please call us or visit a store to continue"). It charged my credit card but refunded it immediately.

Not sure if this is a second layer of preventing people from ordering more than two devices from the same account. But I'm suspending my attempts Smilie

For those who're trying to use the same GV number after a failed order, you should check your GV settings and see if you only see the Delete button. If so, don't try that number. Once GV receives a transfer request from the new carrier, the "Lock" button will disappear and you can't have more than one transfer request on the same number simultaneously.

So, when there are two lines in one account, the 2nd line has the same billing cycle end date as the 1st line. If you don't pay for the 2nd month, is there a risk that the 2nd phone won't be unlocked because it didn't have a full 30-day service? Maybe I'm worrying too much. Big Grin

Well, seems like it still needs "ACTIVATING" the accompanied Sim before unlocking the phone. But "Activating" the Sim needs the order#, which I don't have.
Try the solution that's repeated over & over again on pages 72-73. I had to do it 4-5x but it worked for me.

This thread is for online order.
You should receive email with one click link to activate the line...after 180 days of activation you will be eligible to get it unlocked...

* 3/8/24 Ordered iPhone11 in Account #1. Hasn't been shipped yet.
