Now they've done it...
New wording for Metro unlock policy:

https://www.metrobyt-mobile.com/t...ock-policy

"Unlock eligibility requirements
We unlock mobile devices that meet the following eligibility criteria free of charge:

The device must be purchased from Metro by T-Mobile.
The device must not be reported as lost, stolen or blocked.
Three hundred sixty-five (365) days must have passed since the device's activation date."

Should obviously only apply to purchases made after they changed the rules.
But might have to fight for that...
scroll down to Port your Google Voice number out to another carrier

Account is GV Number no dashes and need Setup Voicemail PIN is Port PIN if not setup that yet

to setup the voicemail pin have go to settings and enable Call to listen Check and manage your voicemails by calling your Google Voice number.

Your account number is your google voice phone number. The pin is the one you set up in Google voice to check voice messages.

Is it actually supposed to be removed from google voice? Also, once its removed, does it allow you to make a new google voice number with the same phone you used?
Yes, it will be removed from Google voice automatically if the porting out process is completed successfully. Yes, it will allow you to get a new GV number or former number.

Got my Iphonne 11 , inserted the sim card ( turned phone on and off a few times - waited 15 minutes )and when dialing out it would't do it and kept connecting to t-mobile.
Tried to activate at Metro but was showing activated ( it wasn't - didnt get the confermation email ) . Dialed out again ( to my other phone number ) , got t-mobile again , they transfered me to Metro and Metro rep had to manually activate the phone .Then I received th email .
Am I the only one that had this problem ?
I had to call in CSRep to activate 2nd line in my case
The first line was activated by Metro on day 21. I needed to buy some time since my other service had still usable mins.

Yes. I tried to add an iphone11 on Tuesday-Wednesday to an account that alread had an iPhone12. Failed 4-5 times and Metro locked up (then released) that GV number each time. After each failure, the next attempt got "The number can't be used" or "You're not eligible to add a line". Finally succeeded on Friday. UPS picked up the phone this afternoon. To be delivered on Tuesday.

Thanks, that was what I experienced and I want to make sure the failure of ordering is not from my GV numbers. I used 3 GV numbers and 1 of them somehow they didn't release again and it has been stuck or lock up for days already. The other 2 numbers are good and they released them a few hours later after failed attempts of ordering.

Port in a google number was easy. can't port in a red pocket number. will not deal with red pocket any more. Even with account no. and transfer, they still need to call in to get it done. very difficult

Does anyone know of an alternative to GV that still works? I only had 2 GV accounts but I used the numbers already. (I don't have an active number to create more GV accounts.)

If you don't care about those already used GV numbers , you can delete them and get new ones using same gmail id (assuming those are already reserved by metro and your phones are on the way) and pay $3 again to unlock.
Second option is visible e-Sim, BUT you need to use someone's reference code so that you will pay only $5.

I have done these both as no human interaction need to get port out details.

Thank you for the advice! I will try doing the Gv method you suggested since I already have both phones. But I am not sure if this will cause any porting problems, I guess we will see.

What's the best way to deal with the "your Security is important to us - please visit our store" error? Does using a different credit card or computer help? Thanks.
It's not even asking identification questions at this pt.

The package looks ok(no reseal tape), the plastic wrap for iPhone is a bit lose but doesn't seem like anyone opened it before.. seems like Apple QC issue..
