Now they've done it...
New wording for Metro unlock policy:

https://www.metrobyt-mobile.com/t...ock-policy

"Unlock eligibility requirements
We unlock mobile devices that meet the following eligibility criteria free of charge:

The device must be purchased from Metro by T-Mobile.
The device must not be reported as lost, stolen or blocked.
Three hundred sixty-five (365) days must have passed since the device's activation date."

Should obviously only apply to purchases made after they changed the rules.
But might have to fight for that...
scroll down to Port your Google Voice number out to another carrier

https://support.google.com/voice/...5667?hl=en

Account is GV Number no dashes and need Setup Voicemail PIN is Port PIN if not setup that yet

to setup the voicemail pin have go to settings and enable Call to listen Check and manage your voicemails by calling your Google Voice number.

https://voice.google.com/u/0/settings#voicemail
Your account number is your google voice phone number. The pin is the one you set up in Google voice to check voice messages.

Right, my 2023 G Stylus just unlocked the other day too, but nobody knows if they've changed that policy since suddenly allowing port-in on like and access to the better deals. In 170 days or so, I guess we'll know.
Having been getting Metro phones for 7 years people have been saying this the entire time. Could it happen? Sure but it's no more likely than it was 7 years ago.

Unlock policy on their website states 'One hundred eighty (180) days must have passed since the device's activation date'.

Unless I missed it elsewhere, they don't specifically mention you need Metro service for the 180 days so don't think they can enforce it if you want the unlock.
Any changes to the policy are in effect after the 180 days pass for everyone who bought the phone under the current policy. They can't change the policy after people have already bought a phone and agreed to the terms. Unless you can find something mentioning that metro may change the policy at any time?

It has been seven days I activated the number the Google ported number. I still can't receive incoming call. How about you guys?
Quote from fungame :
Same here. I am not sure porting will be completed before 30 days, and by that time, it will be expired and suspended.

All we needed was a phone to get activated on the metro, and the 180-day counter started.
Google Voice numbers are treated as landline numbers and takes longer to port. It definitely shouldn't take 30 days.

If you are porting from TMobile MVNOs, price seems to be changing to $29.99

Not with the way Metro unlocks their phones. Since Metro unlocks their phones by adding their IMEIs to the database of Apple, or their own database (depending on make/model), the unlocking services will have to illegally access those databases.
I'm pretty sure you can unlock an iPhone with an rsim.

I'm sure, thanks to this deal, there is a large uptick in GV port outs.

If the port isn't 100% automated and needs some kind of human interaction for it to process, we might be seeing a Metro deal back-up.

Thanks, though not trying to port, trying to add an additional line with a new number. I thought that was or at least had been $0? Well $0 for the A15 + $40 for service?

Unbelievable. MetroPCS called me today and said that they approved my GV number for port-in and waiting for me to activate. It was the number that is stuck and not released for days already. They cancelled my order so how could I activate it? Crazy company... I called them back to request the release of that number and they told me to go to the local store to request the release of that number. They are nuts.

I ported out a GV number that had been parked there for like 6 years two years ago to TMO postpaid and I don't remember that it took very long. But searching my email archive, I found an email from Google stating the porting had been completed. I have yet to see such an email on the number I ported out to Metro a week ago. I hope nobody who is doing this need their GV number to work uninterrupted.
