Now they've done it...
New wording for Metro unlock policy:

https://www.metrobyt-mobile.com/t...ock-policy

"Unlock eligibility requirements
We unlock mobile devices that meet the following eligibility criteria free of charge:

The device must be purchased from Metro by T-Mobile.
The device must not be reported as lost, stolen or blocked.
Three hundred sixty-five (365) days must have passed since the device's activation date."

Should obviously only apply to purchases made after they changed the rules.
But might have to fight for that...
scroll down to Port your Google Voice number out to another carrier

What should I do if I just can't place the order? At the very last step after I fill out everything, it asks me to call them or go to a local store.

I added it.

"Reserve the number to Metro"? Meaning it no longer belongs to my current carrier and I can no longer use the number on the current account, right?
No, "reserved to Metro" just means it's pre-allocated to Metro for porting in. See attachments.

The number still works on your current carrier. In fact, for those of us who ported in from Google Voice, the number was partially ported-in to Metro, the phone shows the ported-in number and we can make outgoing calls/texts but incoming calls/texts still went to GV. We had to call Metro Port Dept for them to complete the port and have the number released by GV.

Getting this error for the past hour while checking number for port in:

"We are experiencing technical difficulties. Please retry or reach out to metro support."

Update: Looks like they blocked my IP or something because I just used a VPN and it worked.

The process of initiating the number port in first and then confirming the order is beyond me.

I paid to unlock two GV numbers and orders failed on both numbers multiple times with either a "Security question" error or "For your safety please visit our award winning [scammer] stores". Yeah right!
For the safety of my wallet I'm going to stay away from your scammer central stores who won't even confirm whether they have ANY iPhones in stock.

BEWARE of the number of times you try with the same port in number, account name and payment method combo. I tried 5 times with my parents name and CC was charged 4 times. When I try to use those GV numbers I get the above "technical difficulty" error.
[Tried twice on Firefox Fox, Firefox incognito and Safari private browsing]

It worked a third time when I tried on a completely different iOS device which leads me to believe that their system is tracking/blocking IP address and device ID/MAC address as well.

Just a FYI for the very few who bought the Moto G Stylus 5G 2023 & are planning to use on Visible. Unlocked & it worked for 10 days then today no service. Had to chat for 2 FN hrs to CS. Turns out the Stylus 5G 2023 is not "compatible" with Visible & took the Visible system 10 days to catch up. Grrr. Then CS had to reprovision my old Moto G stylus 2020 which is approved. But now it says Verizon not Visible. Hope there's not more to come in this saga. Oh & I bought a 2nd one yesterday, doh.
Android prepaid devices are notorious for being blocked by other carriers unless that specific model number is on their whitelist.

A not funny thing is both the pSIM & the eSIM IMEIs are good to go on MobileX a VZW MVNO.

Anyone knows whether Metro provides a temp number before port-in completes? Thanks in advance Smilie

I expect to receive iPhone 12 tomorrow and I will be on a trip this weekend. Seeing quite a few you guys had issues in porting in Google Voice number, which makes me a bit concerned. I don't care about the number coz it's a spare GV, but I do need the data for the trip Wink

Data worked for me even with the incomplete port.

I got the iPhone 12 delivered (2nd Line), which I 'activated' before arrival using the order number - my new number shows up in T-Mobile account (was able to login using OTP from the first line). Now,

1. If I don't physically activate this iPhone 12 (not even unbox it), would it still unlock after 180 days? I'd like to be able to gift it 6 months later to a family member.

2. Also, if I don't physically activate the device now, does the 1-year Apple warranty start only from the date I really first turn-on the phone?

3. Would the H2O SIM unlock method for 'Flex' locked phones from Target deal a month ago also work for these units from Metro? (Unlikely, but asking anyway)

Visible is picky about which phone it'll accept. My Metro Moto Razr is Compatible with native Verizon and Tracfone/Verizon, but not with Visible.

I don't think so. Tested Visible and US mobile free trial (On Verizon as well) for 20 more days all were working perfectly without any glitches.
There is no way it's only compatible for 10 days then it becomes incompatible. There is nothing needed to provision, that is totally crap, put the SIM card in it is ready to go..

Did you activate the line after the order notification or after the shipment notification?
