New wording for Metro unlock policy:
https://www.metrobyt-mobile.com/t...ock-policy
"Unlock eligibility requirements
We unlock mobile devices that meet the following eligibility criteria free of charge:
The device must be purchased from Metro by T-Mobile.
The device must not be reported as lost, stolen or blocked.
Three hundred sixty-five (365) days must have passed since the device's activation date."
Should obviously only apply to purchases made after they changed the rules.
But might have to fight for that...

The number still works on your current carrier. In fact, for those of us who ported in from Google Voice, the number was partially ported-in to Metro, the phone shows the ported-in number and we can make outgoing calls/texts but incoming calls/texts still went to GV. We had to call Metro Port Dept for them to complete the port and have the number released by GV.
"We are experiencing technical difficulties. Please retry or reach out to metro support."
Update: Looks like they blocked my IP or something because I just used a VPN and it worked.
The process of initiating the number port in first and then confirming the order is beyond me.
I paid to unlock two GV numbers and orders failed on both numbers multiple times with either a "Security question" error or "For your safety please visit our award winning [scammer] stores". Yeah right!
For the safety of my wallet I'm going to stay away from your scammer central stores who won't even confirm whether they have ANY iPhones in stock.
BEWARE of the number of times you try with the same port in number, account name and payment method combo. I tried 5 times with my parents name and CC was charged 4 times. When I try to use those GV numbers I get the above "technical difficulty" error.
[Tried twice on Firefox Fox, Firefox incognito and Safari private browsing]
It worked a third time when I tried on a completely different iOS device which leads me to believe that their system is tracking/blocking IP address and device ID/MAC address as well.

I expect to receive iPhone 12 tomorrow and I will be on a trip this weekend. Seeing quite a few you guys had issues in porting in Google Voice number, which makes me a bit concerned. I don't care about the number coz it's a spare GV, but I do need the data for the trip

1. If I don't physically activate this iPhone 12 (not even unbox it), would it still unlock after 180 days? I'd like to be able to gift it 6 months later to a family member.
2. Also, if I don't physically activate the device now, does the 1-year Apple warranty start only from the date I really first turn-on the phone?
3. Would the H2O SIM unlock method for 'Flex' locked phones from Target deal a month ago also work for these units from Metro? (Unlikely, but asking anyway)
that fkin sucks
scammy as hell.
It was working perfectly, and then they say nope.
i checked my imei on verizon website, and it said it works.
did you phone pass verizon imei check?
There is no way it's only compatible for 10 days then it becomes incompatible. There is nothing needed to provision, that is totally crap, put the SIM card in it is ready to go..
