I would be shocked to see a Sony device fail because it ran on a simulated sine wave or to have a warranty denied because of it, unless they specifically state not to use one.

I'm sure there are many success stories, but I haven't had any good luck with these. When they do work, they're fine, but batteries will ultimately die and many times it will take something else out with it. In all three cases, it was this very same UPS, the 1500VA 900W. Do yourself a favor and pay a bit more to get something more enterprise grade from a company like Tripp Lite. I'd probably even vouch for APC pure sine wave over these at this point.
Cyberpower generally has a 3yr warranty for their UPS devices. But sounds like you threw one out after it failed in 2 years?
The other one whose display and LEDs are completely gone I purchased from Staples on 7/14/21 and since it seems to still function, I rather not waste my time with a replacement. Like I said, I did get another 1500VA for use at my local church that was completely DOA and they had sent me a refurb back that did not last.
I'm just speaking from my own experiences and will avoid Cyberpower in the future. I'm sure many others are using these just fine. When they work, they work fine.
That is the down side to Costco's excellent return policy. The returns just get resold.
Its best to get the real thing. The pure sine do go on sale at Costco. Had one last year. Best to wait it out imo.
If yours was shipped without an additional box it was just damaged in route. Many complaints about this. I ordered one before and it came double boxed. At shippers whim. And they be shipped direct from Cyber P if I recall correctly.

Once and after running for a little more than 5 years one day I came back home seeing the device is stuck in blank display and non-stoppable beep sound while there are no record of power outage, all connected devices lost power while the outlet itself is working fine.
It is a disaster as I have to recover some corrupted data and a few critical devices took days and weeks to be restored to its original state.
I guess it is partly on me given the fact I'm not replacing the battery every once in a while however I do believe it is manufacturer's responsibility to ensure the device operate properly even in case of the battery failure or not holding a charge.
I no longer buy CyberPower UPS ever since.
