Why get upset that Lowes won't give you a double discount? You're getting a battery for free. I'm a vet as well and am grateful for a 10% when I can get it, but no need to get upset when you can't. Another option is buy discounted gift cards for Ace and Lowes to buy local and support the community vice Bezos yacht. Personally, I bought $120 worth of ACE gift cards for $100 then used the Save $20 on a $100 coupon. Saved $40 on the purchase. Of course I needed the extra battery.
Not that I recommend this, it would be highly dangerous, but but for a car battery I hooked the charger up backwards for as short a period of time as was possible which shocked the crude on the lead plates and made the battery accept a charge for another 6 months, back when I was a teenager and dumber than rocks apparently...
