A cheap laptop with 16GB of RAM? Darn.
This isn't sold in the warehouse. It's a blue page that is online only. Advertised at $250 off the $700 price ($450) but their price changed about a week ago to $650 so the $250 off takes it down to $400....pennies ignored
Oh, very subtle detail (blue vs. white page) that I missed. I almost went to the warehouse to buy it so thanks so much for pointing out.

Friends don't let friends buy Dell. If you do, buy Latitude. These days in the PC market, it's pretty much Lenovo (who has fallen massively from grace) or nothing imho. I have an off-lease $200 Latitude 7290 from Dell Refurbished with an 8th gen i5, a good SSD, brand new battery and 32 gb of RAM and it's a great machine and small form factor for the money for what it is.

Dell is fine. I had a Latitude back in 2013 and an XPS 15 I got five years ago. Both were fantastic.

I had a Lenovo X1 carbon before and the screen crapped out on me just outside of warranty. Although I liked the keyboard, everything else was nothing extraordinary. Got my wife a Lenovo laptop from staples several years ago and there's so much bloatware on it. On top of that, her G key stopped working consistently just outside of warranty. Vowed never to buy Lenovo after that.

I will say I'm on my first MacBook Pro 16" and the build quality is light years ahead of anything I've used before. Still getting used to the OS but if I had to go back to a PC, it would either be a Dell XPS, LG Gram, or Surface Laptop.

Short answer on RAM appears no, in the sense that this comes with 16GB RAM (2x8GB), which is max officially supported by this model.

Longer answer is that this includes dual ddr4 SODIMM slots, each supporting up to 16GB of RAM, and they do appear servicable (not soldered on).

Good luck!

So if each can support 16 that would be a total of 32gb supported?

Except that the Dell manual explicitly states that the system will not support more than 16GB total (which can be 2 x 8gb or a single 16gb module.)

Whether that is true or not remains to be seen - Crucial's memory lookup site says the system will support the full 32GB but until someone actually tries it I wouldn't trust that info.

The idea of shoving 32GB into this rather modest laptop is funny to me, not knocking it, I ordered one myself, but if you wanted a high-powered laptop this isn't it

I'm with you, I've had nothing but consumer grade stuff, mostly Dells and HPs. Whether it's software or hardware, they all fall apart. Can't even repurpose it at the end of its life cycle bc too many parts needs to be swapped out. Recently grabbed a refurb Lenovo Thinkpad T480, hoping for the best

Eek. Sounds like a very bad experience with that X1. I would have thought higher end models would have been better. Nothing is made like it used to! Nothing beats Mac for usability. I feel like the only people who crap on Mac haven't used them, have very specific PC needs or OS-related needs that don't work well on Mac. Yes, they're more expensive. Yes, their trying to tie you to their ecosystem and their proprietary cabling is B.S. But how many working 2009 laptops are still around from a PC manufacturer? My MacBook is still fully functional. My wife's 2012 MBP is also still fully functional.

Nobody's trackpad comes close, either. I've been a convert since 2012. I only use a PC for a side hustle since it's required. It took me 3 months to adjust to how weird the buttons feel and how bad the touchpad is!

I see a white page only

Haven't had time to do more than plug it in to charge and get the Dell service tag from BIOS

The power adapter runs very hot, measured it at 130 degrees F

Disagree on Mac. I had a $2000+ MBP from my work and I couldn't stand it. Battery life and trackpad were awful. Overheated very fast the moment Zoom started. Everybody overhyped it so much.

Ditto..I have m1 16" pro right next to me for past 6 months collecting dust. Hype is real. I don't get why so many feel they need to be Jehovah's knocking on people's door. To each their own. PC bashing Max, vice versa, who gives a crap. 🛑. No wonder humanity and religion is such a dark history of wars and brutality. I'm rather surprised it hasn't extended to brands, though we are certainly getting closer

Not according to Amazon more detailed. There is definitely no thunderbolt (a problem these new Dell have) and no Alt-DP. Its says data only. And to wit that means no USB-C charging.

Such a shame.

I thought gen 2 3.2 type c would connect to external monitor via docking station. So what type of port do we look for if we need to connect to external monitors?
