The best air purifier deal is back at Costco.

I have these Winix units all over my house.

Better performing than everything you can find on Amazon and it comes with 2 years of filtration and easy to control on a Wi-Fi app.

AHAM rated for 360 sq ft, but will cover up to nearly 1,800 square feet with one air change per hour.

My favorite feature is the sensors and auto mode. It gives you the ability to set it up and forget about it. The fan speeds will change automatically, the air quality sensor will change colors and let you know it's working and the change filter indicator will let you know when it's time to change the true HEPA filter (I usually set a timer/reminder for my carbon filter change as I do with my furnace filter).

These units have helped my air during wildfires, Covid periods and will be purchasing more as it's cheaper than buying some other units filters.

Anyone else have theirs develop a whine/hum? I had to move it to dog room
Winix includes an extra filter, so you're already at the same price, assuming $80 for Shark + $20 for extra filter.

Shark states 1000sqft of air change per hour, Winix is 1800sqft
Shark is refurb with 90day warranty, Winix is new with (I want to say) 2year warranty, plus Costco satisfaction coverage.

Can't comment on reliability of Shark, but I've got 3 Winix in the house. One of them being maybe 6-7 years old at this point. We use it almost daily.

On the Winix, I did have to open it up and tighten the fan when it started rattling at about 5 year mark. But I think even if someone had to replace it at that point, it would be totally worth it the price paid.
I bought 2 of these units for myself, and my father bought 1 last year. No complaints, have it setup on a schedule and on auto it is nearly silent even when it's only 4ft away from my head. It will ramp-up/down automatically if AQ decreases, and comes with 2-years of filters. Plus, Costco warranty.

If you're looking for one, highly recommended.

Yup, after about a little over a year. Returned it to Costco and bought a new one when it was on sale again.

Anyone with allergies have this? How much does it help?

I have cat allergies and 3 different, highly rated brands of air purifiers had little affect on reducing my cat allergy symptoms. So think about it. These cheap air purifiers are for small areas (usually 250 to 350 s.f.) If you have a 2,000 s.f. 2-story, 4-bedroom house, and your pet freely roams the house, how many of these air purifier units do you think you would have to buy to eradicate pet hair and pet dander throughout the house?

If I have no allergies and no respiratory problems does this do anything else for me? Will this reduce my dusting?

I have the old 535 model. I used to put it in the living room but recently moved it to bedroom. I notice the dust on my nightstands significantly reduced. There is still some dust, but definitely a lot less.

All 3 of the refurbs I bought from Woot did this after about 2 years. They have been moved to non-occupied bedrooms upstairs and basement but I can literally still hear them.

Very common. There's a video floating around of a person taking the unit apart and it's very involved with many screws. But not hard or difficult at all. Placed a rubber wedge and for some cable that squeeks after years of use. My oldest unit has this whine and I'm sure I'll do the fix in the summer when I can take it outside to work on it

a cheap paper fixed in the video. but a rubber bushing would work best.

Get a 20" box fan and put a HEPA filter and tap all 4 sides. It is now a air filter and a fan too!

These are good units, but only buy from Costco. They will likely develop a whine over time. It's the motor and is non-serviceable. When this happens, take it back to Costco (years later) and swap for a new one.

Someone sell me on this over a coway 200m (1512/1518) for same price.

I already have two the 200m and love them but these pop up all the time so just curious.
Where are you finding a Conway 200m for $99?

I got this last year. Don't forget to check your electrical/gas company to see if there's a rebate to make this even sweeter! My company has a $25 rebate. Took about a month or so after I applied to get it.

My really old model was great for the first four years on auto or manually setting the speed to just below max. During the quarantining, I had it to always be set at 3 or 4 speed and then it developed a whine that I couldn't fix. That one has been moved to the hallway.
If the warranty expired already, you could open it up and tighten the fan. There's a few YouTube tutorials on the model and how to fix it. One of the simplest I saw was adding soft foam or cloth materials to work as dampeners.

Why would anyone pay for this? You can literally stick a random HEPA filter in front of a box fan. Literally same thing.
Well, for one thing, where is this 20 x 20 HEPA filter that you speak of, that will fit a box fan ? Sure, you can use a MERV, but that is not HEPA. Secondly, a box fan takes significantly more electricity to operate. And lastly, it is not exactly stylish, unless you live in a double wide in eastern Kentucky.
