Pretty recently was 10 packets per box instead of 8, too - but corporate greed is an endless.

Another example of the 'High Price Of Convenience'...

Instead of buying in bulk, some people are willing to pay 2x or even 3x the price, just for the 'convenience' of a company breaking up one package into multiple smaller packages.

At the risk of being downvoted into oblivion, I would suggest this instead. It seems that instant oats is leftover crap from processing to me - like stuff they could only otherwise make into flour.
Try this instead

Instant oats are rolled oats. They are just oats processed differently. I prefer steel cut oats, but they take about 45 minutes to cook, so not near as convenient.

seems like a good deal, but why is instant oatmeal so dang expensive.. i could buy a family size box of cheerios for the same price

Part of the expense here is the organic growing which results in decreased crop yields. Usually I don't care much about organic, especially when a fruit has a peel that I won't eat, but there might be reason to go organic for oats.

Recent studies have found high levels of chlormequat (thought to be a potential reproductive disruptor) and glyphosate (the Roundup chemical strongly linked to cancer) on oat products. Chlormequat is added to get the oats to stand up where they are easier to harvest, and glyphosate is for weed control.

There were some organic products contaminated, but the organic products were far less likely to contain the excessive levels of these compounds. I have a garden, and I use glyphosate around my property, but I'd never spray Roundup on a food that was near harvest. Oat suppliers do.

Chlormequat blood levels in the US spiked in 2017-2023. The Cheerios we give kids have chlormequat that is increasing their blood serum levels:

I like steel cut too. It takes about 10 mins to cook if you soak it overnight.
The above recipes use old-fashioned/rolled oats. So does the instant oats packet.

I've got one of those cool micom rice cookers with a porridge setting that works great. I cook them in milk which gets the vent a little nasty, but it's easy enough to clean.

i looked at the study. The organic ones (at least for Quaker) didn't have this pesticide in them.

Me too! I love that thing. But I cook in water and add heavy cream afterwards.

I usually get these organic steel cut oats on S&S.
https://a.co/d/3R2vvWj

And cook them on the Instant Pot with this recipe then add blueberries, bananas, walnuts, honey and flax/chia/hemp seeds.

If you're watching your sugar, it's tough to find an instant oatmeal that is a) within your sugar budget, and b) any good. This has 12g of added sugars, which isn't great for a breakfast, especially when one packet is a pretty minimal serving.

This deal has been dead for quite a while now. Not sure why it's still on this board. I reported it as expired yesterday
