Well the BB employees are wrong. S89C has a qd oled panel while c3 has a wrgb panel. Qd oled is much brighter and has more color volume

Was really hoping this would drop more. They still must have a ton in stock.
Yeah was hoping for $1500-$1600 price after the Superbowl, but it hasn't happened, so I pulled the trigger on the LG C3 a few days ago for $1725.

I have the 77" C3 mounted on the Sanus Elite Advanced tilt 4D mount.

It will also work for the S89C

I really like that I can tilt the mounted TV in various directions. The profile of the mount is super thin where the TV is almost flushed up again the wall ( well about 2 inches) , yet the mount can be extended out 6.8 inches for easy access to back of TV for cables, etc.

This is a really good wall mount. I have the same.

When I bought my Samsung tv, I bought the recommended tv mount from their website. When the guy came to install it, he told me that the Samsung mounts weren't very good. I ran out to Best Buy and bought this mount. It's a bit pricey but very very good.

I saw a similar mount at Costco as well for a lower price. I'd recommend that one also.

Just don't get a Samsung mount. Not worth it.

Nice. My folks have the c2 and it's fantastic. Still aiming at the Samsung as it's a touch brighter but most importantly the mounts are lower so I am thinking I wouldn't even need to move or change my wall mount.

Nice find OP! FYI for others - my total price was $30 less to have Best Buy deliver (vs in-store pickup)

So if i buy with with a credit card and get the 5 year extended warranty will my max warranty be 1 year+1 year credit card+5 year extended be 7 years total?
No. Pretty sure not. The CC extra warranty is generally, extra (1) year on original manufacture warranty. The Costco Citi CC used to add on to warranties or added 2yrs but that feature went away last year witch is BS. (Citi said that it wasn't a feature people used very much, which think is BS as well).

I went to Best Buy & tried looking at both TVs side-by-side to compare (as another SDer commented on a different thread said they did). BBY, had the TVs about 20ft apart and each had their Manufactures picture on them - so the TVs never had the same thing at once on it to compare.

Of course they both looked good, the LG seemed a touch not as bright but the LG feed seemed dimmer overall (which I have no idea why-eye roll).

Anyhow, 3 BBY employees all said that they would get the C3 over the Samsung and that both had the same panels & only difference is the processing of course. Asked about apple tv or NVIDIA & they said, yeah but if your content is still only 1080, that's all you'll get; as in if you don't pay for the higher 4K etc from Netflix then the LG C3 would do better upscale.. Again, I don't have a dog in this fight - just commenting b/c I'm wrestling on which one to get. I saw the LG price on Monday & should've just got that one. ps, I've read countless SD threads..

FWIW I believe Citi Premier still has 24-month extended warranty (up to $10k)

I'd also probably take the LG, but don't listen to BB employees... They don't have the same panel, the Samsung has the better QD Oled panel, and Nvidia and Apple TV do have their own upscaling.

Upscaling difference from 1080p to 4k is very minor if at all visible at regular viewing distance. Upscaling from less than 1080p may be better or worse, but how much of that material is still worth watching. Big Grin

I love everything about the 89c except the OS, it's buggier than Lg's. 89c's advantage, enormous color gamut, doesn't desaturate bright colors, turns white, slightly better panel uniformity, although 5% slides are still not great on oleds in general.

For movies, in my experience, its a game changer in terms of HDR presentation, even on the streaming services. For gaming, it is not that impressive and rarely implemented natively, compared to movies/shows.
This is no correct, dolby vision is implemented poorly on most tvs, including LG. In fact without calibration, hdr10 is significantly more accurate on the LG compared with its DV output.

This Samsung or the 77" C3 for $1,725 ($1,640 with Amazon 5% cb) earlier this week?
Depends, Samsung for gaming but C3 for movies/tv shows. Who knows if we will see those prices on the C3 anytime soon again

+1 to this question. I still have time to cancel the Amazon order and grab this S89C. Brighter QD-OLED panel is enticing, but C3 is slightly cheaper ($1725, or $1640 with Prime card cash back).
I mean, unless you are really hard up for cash I would probably go s89c. But anyone willing to pay this much for a TV is presumably not hard up for cash.

It is not just the brightness, but color gamut. I love my CX and am a big fan of LG and think Samsung is kind of a scummy company.

But after breaking down and buying the s89c on the last deal. I gotta admit, QD-OLED is simply better technology.

If it was my money, I would go s89c. But since it isn't my money and I like LG more as a company, maybe you should go C3.
