There are traditionally two Chinese manufacturers that produce these and slap on a myriad of brand names but unless this product has gotten the Temu shrink-a-lization, turning it deceptively into a fraction of its normal expected size, these are all roughly identical and do produce a healthy amount of bullet ice -- plenty for several drinks unless you have a two gallon Slurpee cup,

I have owned about eight of these over the last ten years. They all last an average of one year before a mechanical issue shuts them down or they get ravaged by hidden mold which can develop if you allow the ice to melt and re-freeze repeatedly without regular cleaning. If you do get mold, cleaning it all out is impossible and it is better to just throw it out.

Periodically, you will want to run concentrated lemon juice and some diluted Clorox bleach through the machine to sterilize it and keep mineral deposits down. If you are not going to use it, empty and dry it as best as you can. Also, some units have silicone drain plugs that are easy to damage or lose. Keep an eye on it.
This looks pretty Identical to the best buy brand ice maker that sometimes goes on sale for as cheap as $50, just saying for those who are not in a rush.
What is this? An icemaker for ants?

Very different experience from what I get. I have had mine for over a year almost close to two. Was given to me by a family member who couldn't get it to make ice. I cleaned it out and disinfected it and it works just fine. And has been when used off and on over 2 years. Plus what ever use the previous owner got it off it. A few years at least.

Some suggestions to help it with at is peak...
When starting with a fresh clean ice machine let it run for a good 2 hours or so without the catch basket to let the ice cool the water. This will help it make the ice cubes as quick as possible once its ready. It can make a batch in about 8 minutes.

2nd. After the water is ice cold with a mix of ice and water put the catch basket back in place. After a few cycles dump the newly made ice into a bucket or bin inside your freezer. Don't keep the ice in the machine as storage.

3. After a month or so depending on how often you use it... wash out the machine with hot distilled vinegar. 10 minutes contact time with distilled vinegar over 120⁰f is the as 1 minute of chlorine bleach contact time. (Not sure look into it, don't just take my word for it). This will help clean out the hard water spots that may form if you have hard water. When you pour in the hot vinegar let it run just enough to start filling the tray then turn it off to dump the hot vinegar. Continue this a few times to clean out the pump. After a few cycles finishing scrubbing down every other contact point inside. Rinse with hot water, then cycle thru cold water and spray everything down inside to remove the vinegar.

Then restart the machine with fresh water and start dumping your fresh ice into a bin in the freezer.

This unit should be used as an ice maker not a storage bin. Dump excess water and open lid to air out in between ice making sessions.

Hope my experience can help others.

As is often the case, the 26 pounds is simply advertising BS.

For those considering this, the unit makes about a cup or so of ice at a time. Not 26 pounds at one time. I suppose if a person sat at the machine, filled it each cycle, harvested the ice at each cycle over a 24 hour period nonstop, and collected and weighed the results, the ice made might weigh 26 pounds. Unless you plan to do so, take the 26 pounds with a grain of salt. Also, know that the device makes ice. It does not keep the ice frozen for later use. If you don't retrieve it, the ice simply melts in place. To save the ice, you need to take the newly made ice out of the basket and put into your freezer. This would need to happen about every 14 minutes, after refilling it with new water of course.

That said, there is a place for these. A single person may find its production sufficient for their needs. Also, those who purchased newer refrigerators with crappy ice makers (especially Samsung and LG) thinking they would produce ice like the Whirlpools of 30 years ago might find these helpful in times of need such as a the heat of summer or a big dinner.

I have one (regrettable LG fridge) and it sits on a cabinet unused 99.9% of the time. Worse yet, when one of my daughter's friends was using it, she simply left it on for days at a time unaware that the newly made ice was not being kept frozen. Not good for the compressor or my electric bill.

Ì have a bin inside my freezer that can hold 7 lbs of ice... or maybe 5 I can't remember. But I do know that it doesn't take more than 6 hours to make a full bin. At 5 lbs that's 20lbs of ice in a day but no one is going to watch it for 24 hours straight. I let it run and in about 30 to 45 minutes I dump the ice into the bin. Then I let it keep making more ice. Once the water runs down I add more water, take out the catch bin and let it run for 20 minutes or so to demo fresh ice into the water reservoir. Then put the catch bin bag in and let it run again. I just keep repeating until the bin is full. And the bin lasts us almost a week on avg. So I could essentially run it for a few hours each evening and dump the ice into the bin before bed. And I ran a kill a watt meter and last I remember it didn't even burn a kWh in a few hours. It hardly uses any energy at all.

At first glance, I thought this was a portable toilet.

Can you explain how you use it? I don't need to make bucket fulls of ice, nor do I use ice every day. I just want to make enough for a couple of drinks once a week. Do you fill it with water and ice will be ready for a few weeks? When you deplete the ice, you refill with more water?

Or is there some other process for using this ice that I'm just not used to?
You pour water in it using a mug, or something that holds around 32 oz of water. It fills up a little removable bucket, then stops when it senses it is full. If you don't use the ice it melts a little, to where the ice drops down low enough, then it tops itself off again. It does shut off when the water has run out and you have to pour in more water. I just turn it off at nights or when I'm not around.

I have a large 44 Oz double walled insulated tumbler. This ice maker fills it up perfectly. Then I turn off the ice maker. Then turn it on when my cup is only half full of ice if still dr8nking. Perfect.

Reading everyone descriptions, I'm still confused how this thing works and whether or not I can use it to keep ice available for when I need it maybe once a week. It doesn't sound it it's a freezer that runs 24-7? It makes ice the same way a pop corn maker makes pop corn? When it's done making, it stops making ice, and the ice that it made...starts to melt? And you have to start it up again or something?

I don't know, am I being dumb? Does anyone utilize these table top ice makers to just keep ice available for some random once a week use? Does is that super inefficient due to how these function?

FYI: 2-year service plan = $6 ... 3-year = $8

saw a few comments here that indicate this might be a good idea

It makes ice until the bucket is full or the water runs out. The ice will melt as it sits there but that simply makes the cubes somewhat smaller and the water goes back into the machine to make more ice. Every hour or so I dump the bucket into the freezer and I fill up my freezer ice bucket from empty over the course of a day.

To note the ice comes out of this machine at like 27F and freezers work at like -7F so this ice won't be as solid or effective if you use it straight from the machine though you can use the ice in that way. If that's the intended use it still could make sense as you can get a decent amount of ice in an hour or less.

This would not be a good fit for your needs. Unless you're going to run the machine, and then transfer the ice to your freezer. It only makes ice, it doesn't keep it frozen. If it sits for an hour or two, it melts and starts to turn into a solid block. Best to continually use

Glad to hear it meets your needs. Many others like myself would prefer not to spend a few hours every evening, much less six hours in one day, tending to the machine. I'll continue to use ours when the refrigerator's own ice maker is insufficient to meet our needs, which seem to exceed yours. We use more than five pounds per week.

Another alternative is simply ice trays. A two pack costs $1.25 at Dollar Tree. A couple of these might make as much as the posted ice maker. Assuming you have enough space in your freezer of course.

I tried using ice trays but it wasn't enough in the time it took.
And I can see this machine doesn't work for your needs. Which is cool it isn't for everyone. we don't have an ice maker in our fridge as we were limited to our choices of fridge/freezers by how tall our fridge can be because of the cabinets. So this is a good second option for us, ahead of buying bags of ice. Which at times I'll do that if we need more ice than normal. But I wouldn't say it's terribly time consuming to make ice. Just let it run for awhile and dump it and refill and go back again. You could always keep water in the fridge and use cold water to refill the ice machine. That will make it faster. Ours easily makes a glass worth of ice in less than 8 minutes. A lot of times the machine gets full before I realize it. Which is why I feel it can easily make enough ice for most people. Well... some people.
But as always to each is own and that was my experience. Add your experience and I think people have a good idea how it would end up working for then. So thanks for your input. Hope others like my input. ✌️

Anyone consider this for camping. Maybe a dedicated cooler the ice could drop into automatically?Just have it sit on top and run to fill a small cooler with some sort of funnel?

Had one of these for a long while, makes great crushed ice quality ice for cocktails and soda mixed drinks. If you're looking for hard ice this is not the machine for you
