One thing that sucks about Lowes (and I like them) is they really limited what items work with discounts. My father-in-law went to pick up electrical supplies for a small project on our house, and none of it qualified for discounts.
Guessing this applies to most reading this thread.. AAFES now has a link to HD appliances where you can buy appliances with like 1% discount and tax free. So basically 10% off appliances, something Lowes stopped giving discounts on. Can also use military star card to buy them.
Because I'm giving Lowe's a thumbs up. I said Home Depot does a cap. It's a max of $400 at Home Depot. Lowe's does not have an annual cap which is very awesome of them.

Be careful at Home Depot.
Noticed the price actually went up at checkout using military discount last week.
Military discount cancelled out a sale price.
If anything these companies should be giving discounts to those in actual financial need like people on disability, food stamps, SSI etc.
I'm empathetic to those in need, but, like you said, they are getting assistance. They also do not pay income taxes which are mostly paid by 46% of working age Americans. I think it's great that companies are supporting the men and women of this country who have protected the foundations of our freedom. They are the reason why our country is wealthy enough to provide benefits to those in need. To the average veteran, you are talking maybe a few hundred dollars in savings per year. If you want to have a reason to feel sympathetic, just realize these are the people who are or have had their lives dictated by multimillionaires in government.
Lowe's is trash on the weekends. I went to grab an air duct grill yesterday, 2 min trip in and out and I was greeted by a lead guard salesman upon entry. And a bath remodeler before I could get down the main aisle to checkout. Like I'm in a goddamn mall with the kiosks selling shitty Chinese fidget spinners. Leave me alone. I didn't come to shop at your businesses, I'm here for Lowe's merchandise.
I saw a coupon in my account for One Free Sample of Paint or Stain. Free shipping, too. I didn't pull the trigger on it yet so I can't confirm it'll ship but it's something to keep your eye out for.
Been to Lowes a few times recently. I happen to look at my receipt and no military discount for pressure treated wood anymore. The discount is the reason I go outta my way to received the discount and support them. I might as well save my gas and start buying local again.
I was automatically given silver rewards. Don't know if there is even a requirement to get it. I think everyone has it. Also, don't care about this rewards program and don't plan on using it in store. you have to spend like $500 to get a $5 off coupon or something like that, can't remember the exact amount.
It's actually spending $800 to get $5. NOT a Deal at all! 1.25 Points in MyLowe's Money for each Dollar spent (1,000 Points = $5 MyLowe's Money)
Agree. I'm a millennial vet and pretty put off by this level of entitlement from vets these days expecting that they are owed a discount and that they are mistreated when not. You signed up to serve not get discounts. Discounts are awesome but shouldn't be expected for vets.
It's the effect of giving us something and then taking it away. Much worse than never having it at all. Anyway did you know much of the crap Lowes/HD sells has 30-50% profit margin? 10% off to <5% of the population ain't stopping them from raking it in. The loyalty scheme is just another way to rake in more

How are you going to enforce that? How do you differentiate people based on needs basis? Are we going to have to start carrying our 1040s with us everytime we go to HD or Lowes?

Actually his math is right. 100 * .9 * .9 = 81 which is a 19% discount. Do you love looking foolish too?
