Well for this size and price point, you either have the ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14 and this one. They seem to be alternating back and forth which one is on sale. I think this is the better deal in terms of looks (more classy, not gamery, and better materials), port layout, and much better display.
This model laptop with a lesser config goes a little cheaper, but not much.

Is this about as good a price as it gets for these specs without going for a 6 pound dell monster ?

Not the bottom. Costco a couple of months ago was selling a Lenovo Legion Pro with 32GB RAM, 1TB SSD, 4060 and i7-13700HX for $999, which is cheaper and better than this. The Costco deal will probably come back (or something comparable).

I got a vivobook pro 16 inch with 4060 for about 880 including taxes. It came with 13900H. It was used but looked new and it has warranty till end of the year.

Looking at the 32Gb variant from Lenovo direct at around $1200 after various discounts. Seems worth it considering the RAM is not upgradable, but I'm on the fence.

I have this in the 15.6 model. Runs great. 80 deg C when gaming. I returned the i9 version because it ran 95-100 deg C on the same games. Keyboard was hot to the touch.

I have this exactly model from the last sale. I think the newest game I've had on it is red dead 2, and that will get close to 80 on cpu, 70 on gpu with med-high settings. I mostly play older stuff. Fallout 4 won't cross 60c on cpu or gpu. The g14 has much worse battery life and acreen. This can pass as an office laptop.
