I think you are missing how AI upscaling works. Microsoft is implementing it directly into Windows this year.

All it needs to do is interpolate the gaps in resolution. Newer AI software is so much better than anything we had 5, 10, 20 years ago.

Wait till Google implements it into their Android code and we get upscaling and higher frame rate generation in movies. Gonna be fun times in the next few years watching all of this develop.

I'm definitely not missing anything. Interpolation is still guesswork by definition. Anything generated by AI will always be completely subjective as to whether it is an improvement over the original source material, where some will like it, and others won't. This is completely different from objective measurements such as re-scanning old movie films with better, higher resolution scanners that are just capturing more of the details that are actually present in the original source material.

Wow. Surprisingly no duplicates of my existing collection, which includes a M:I bundle, plus Live Die Repeat and Oblivion. I'd prob bite if it was Blu-Ray.
That's because most of it is stuff nobody would buy, like Jack Reacher 2.

For those who will display this, the dvd cases are significantly shorter than usual. The photo of the product is shot from a lower camera angle.
Applause Hahaha...Well done sir.

The "bad photoshop" is when it's made from scratch. If it's made from just smoothing lines and guessing at texture from context of what's there, it's distinctly better than just linear interpolation stretching.

Yes, a 4K+ rescan is best. But good AI upscaling should work without you noticing it's there. It won't be the original detail, but if it goes unnoticed/nothing stands out, it's served any possible purpose.

shorter? is it blu-ray-sized? because a white 10-disc blu-ray case would be pretty good for this price lol
I'm pretty sure the poster was talking about Tom Cruise, not the DVD case.
