US Stove Caribou CCS18 18-inch camp stove on sale for free pickup and free shipping for $50

US Stove Caribou CCS14 14-inch camp stove also on sale for free pickup and free shipping for $40

https://www.lowes.com/pd/US-Stove...1002691004

I picked up the 18 inch version for $40 when it was available on Amazon for a very short time period when it was $50 with YMMV 20% coupon.

Reviews are bad on Lowe's and a bit better on Amazon but this is probably the cheapest you will find in this category. Worth a shot.

Gee, only a six foot chimney on this one? It would be nice if it were a couple feet taller.

the one person who bought this stove said he drilled 5 holes in the back of the firebox and that improved ventilation so the fire would stay burning and not smoke

I have this stove, it's made of garbage and lies. First.... stainless steel ? BS, sure, the legs are stainless, and so is the chimney, but despite what they claim the body is N O T stainless. I kept this outside, the chimney is fine, and so are the legs... but the body, is rusted, if it were really stainless it would be like the chimney, not rusted, but it is rusted, so lies. Now the part about garbage. Put the chimney together, then use it..... you will never get it apart without modifications like cutting a slit on the side so you can take it apart. If you don't do that before you use it for the first time, good luck getting it apart. You'll get it marred or wrecked in simply trying to get it apart. The reason this sells cheap is probably because all the headaches their junk design and lies about it's construction causes. Save yourself a trip back to the store to return it, don't bother buying it.

Stainless steel does not mean rust proof. There are hundreds of different grades and some are rustproof and some are not

That's seems like a bad idea. You want to be able to control airflow, in from one location bout through another. Does the front door not have any adjustable vent? Perhaps that 20' tall exhaust has a cap on it?

You can clearly see on the picture that the body is not stainless

While you are not incorrect, why is there no rust (almost none, just stains) on the actual stainless steel parts, the chimney, legs, and door parts ? While the painted body, still claimed stainless steel, his heavily pitted with rust despite the paint ? The simple answer and most likely correct answer is that it isn't stainless. Had it been it would perform like the actual stainless steel parts.

The picture is meaningless.... they have two boxes at the store, one is claimed stainless steel, the other not stainless steel. Both have painted bodies, both have stainless steel chimney, door parts and legs. Despite the difference in price, I suspect both are exactly the same, you just get to pay more for the box that lies.

Well I would've bought it just to keep in my backyard. It would never get disassembled.
