I wish we didn't have the yearly prescription requirement. My contact prescription doesn't change, and $150-$200 a year for exams is expensive! You can get your contacts shipped from overseas, but most don't want that hassle or risk.
I understand that logic, but it seems like a double standard to not require a yearly exam when buying eyeglasses. Just more unnecessary government overreach, and probably lobbied for by Optometrist groups wanting all the extra dough.

Sorry, my comment was more so directed towards you and a couple others on this thread. I apologize to the community.
If you really want to save some money, wear your glasses for a couple years. It's beneficial for your eye health as well.
Oh I know contact lens retailers don't follow the rules. Just because you can get away with something doesn't mean you should do it.
Shut it down. From your trolling on this thread, you're obviously officiated with the eye industry whether directly or indirectly. Typical salesman scare tactics too. What you don't realize is some people are really struggling in this country just for basic groceries and don't need the government & eye industry lobbyists forcing them to pay for yearly exams. They would rather be able to eat. As if healthcare costs are not already out of control.
Eye doc here. Online contacts as a category are one of the most egregious frauds I know of. We see patients come in with problems to find that their online lenses are either straight up counterfeit or defective (a lot of these sites supposedly do currency exchange arbitrage where they're bought cheap in another country and sit in a freezing or steaming hot storage container somewhere for who knows how long).
Keep in mind it wasn't long ago that we had people literally dying and losing eyes from contaminated sketchy internet eye drops. Contact lenses should be scrutinized equally....

Sketchy internet eye drops?! Seriously?! Those eye drops were sold in your everyday retailer store like Walgreens, Walmart and CVS. I'm questioning your credentials at this point.
Well folks, there you have it. Eye industry on SD in full arms using scare tactics to discourage getting deals on contact lenses through anyone other than themselves so they can earn a healthy commission and/or discourage getting lenses without a yearly exam god forbid if you already know your prescription and have healthy eyes and practice healthy contact lens habits so they can continue to earn a glutenous living off the hard working class and while insurance costs are spiraling out of control
Has anyone been told by optometrists they have astigmatism but it's not bad enough for toric contacts?
I've only ever used regular contacts, and things have never been super clear. Like my Vision acuity changes very slightly with every blink, it's only really noticeable when i try to focus on something. I wonder if toric would be better or not. Anyone else?

I guess reading comprehension isn't your strong suit. I suggested wearing glasses to save some money. Most people can wear the same pair of glasses for several years and get by without getting an exam (if that's your goal). Wearing contacts is inherently more likely to cause infection, therefore monitoring eye health is more important. Buy your contacts at Walmart, I don't care. Just buy them from somewhere you've heard of and not a one off website that might be selling counterfeit contacts.

And here you have someone that doesn't know what they are talking about encouraging people to do things to put themselves at risk for eye problems. Profit margins are minimal for contacts and reimbursements from vision insurance is not very good. Blame insurance companies, contact lens companies, and glasses companies (primarily controlled by one or two companies). Don't blame the people trying to keep your eyes healthy and vision clear.
1800 contacts wouldn't price match EZContacts. I was curious what Costco's pricing was since I bought from them last time. $40ish per box w/ $60 off if you buy 4 B+L Ultras. I got 4 boxes shipped for $103. I thought it was worth it to pay $15 more to get them from Costco vs EZContacts. This is still a great deal nonetheless.
Same. 1800 contacts sucks with their stupid price matching. They keep arguing it's a "Google sale" and that they don't see the sale prices. Screw them.
I just ended up ordering from ezcontacts, but I hate their ordering interface... they charge your card before it even ships/before you even enter your prescription info - that's BS.
Also I can't edit my prescription... it's the wrong power number... and they have no chat support/phone now - so pathetic.... they better not ship the wrong ones.
And those other places like contactlensking is retarded too trying to just show the lowest google price result at $8.99 but when you actually check out, they add a "$64.50" BS "processing fee" - lame companies.
Of course, but multifocals aren't what most people think of when they think contacts, they are a niche product. Multifocals also have downsides in terms of your vision when wearing them and aren't for everybody.
I had a lousy eye doctor prescribe me multifocal contacts - they are the WORST!! You end up losing focus because the way it works is how your pupils get larger or smaller based on the light, so you end up not being able to see far/close in the narrow field of view... retarded design, honestly. I had a new eye doctor who told me it was dumb for the first one to be giving me that... and it costs more.

Just received my order. $12.95 was the only handling/shipping/processing fee added. Great deal if you're able to replicate

Drank the Kool-aid. It was an expensive Lobbying Effort by Optometrists Trade Groups some years ago
