Just wanted to highlight the "keep it charged" portion. Absolutely. I got burned hard by this. Bought one with thousands of great reviews, fully charged it, put it in my trunk. Fast forward probably 10ish months. Wife and I are returning from 2 weeks in Europe. Car battery is dead. Excited to use my toy, I give the battery pack a shot, and it's too weak to turn over my 4 cylinder. PISSED! It's like carrying a sidearm for 20 years, then it failing when you finally need it. Lesson learned. Top the battery pack off every 3-4 months.

Also I have an Imazing brand one as well. Hate it. It requires a button be pressed to switch into "ultra current jump start mode" (which is not uncommon), but only stays in the mode for a few seconds if it detects no significant draw. This means you have to hit the button, then race into the driver's seat, foot on the brake and push-button start the vehicle within about 5 seconds. Keep in mind the vehicle takes 2-3 seconds to actually crank and start after you hit the push-button start. Took over 10 attempts, with a dead battery in a parking lot, but I finally got it. It basically requires two people. Complete POS.

Anyone have experience with this or with portable battery jump starters in general? Seems like something nice to have but also you have to keep it charged so...

I have an Amazon one. Works awesome to be honest. Yesterday working on my mower, i jumped it about 10 times. Used 30%. Sat in my car for 3 months and didn't lose any charge. For how cheap they are now I'd definitely buy one to have.

I've had 3 od them. One died early because my son never charged it. Once lasted at least a few years. I've had the 3rd for 5 years and it's still going strong. This is the one I keep in my car and use while camping to inflate my air mattress (has an adapter to give the charger a DC power port). It is reliable and has come in handy over the years for both my car and for other people I have come across in parking lots with dead batteries.
For this price, I'd recommend getting it. I will be getting this one for my wife's car.

I just bought a 1000A NOCO from Amazon yesterday for $99. I'm in for one of these at that price point.

I nearly bought that one last night so going to take a gamble on this one for a third of the price. Thanks op!

This would be handy for someone with an aging battery that switched to a subway commute for the winter and never wanted to sit in my car for a half hour a week to keep it charged 😂 it's me

Should I worry about these types of devices in the car on those hot summer days?

Mainly truthfulness of capacity and amperage claims.

I used one yesterday to jump start my car.

I was very surprised that it worked.

The price is really good.

I'm thinking of buying one as a Christmas present.
