Won both Hugo and Nebula awards. This was a stellar book. The sequels ran out of steam by #3, but this one a gem.

Spectacular book. The first story in particular is a brilliant piece of sci-fi literature. Deep, thoughtful, and thrilling.

One of my favorite series (4 novels total). This series made Dan Simmons one of my favorite authors along with Peter Watts and Alastair Reynolds.

After finishing The Three Body Problem I did a lot of searching for a similar depth, and Hyperion along with the Children of Time came up as top reddit recommendation.

Unpopular opinion: I hated this book.

It's basically a collection of slightly connected (but interesting) stories and I was hoping it would all come together at the end of the book. No, it does not. The book ends with a cliffhanger and presumably all these stories are tied together in a book later on...

Yeah the fall of hyperion wraps up the first two books nicely. Then there are two more that are conbected but not necessary. It wasnt meant to end with the first book.
