Blasted with light!? lol it's not that bright… maybe if your house is pitch black. Hardly an issue considering the many benefits. Look to see if your city offers local rebates!
Thank you for keeping me away from a consumption mindset. My current ecobee lite works fine and I rarely interact with it much in the hallway.
Just an FYI there is no way to disable the motion sensor from turning the screen on, even at night. So if you walk by your thermostat in the middle of the night to use the restroom you will get blasted with light from this thing.

The only perk to this is the remote sensors. You can have the thermostat govern temperature by the various room temps. My house temp is governed by my bedroom temperature at night instead of the area directly around the thermostat. I bought my sensors separately which is more expensive. But, I got my thermostat second hand on Marketplace for almost nothing. Which is how I suggest most people purchase one of these setups.

I'm going to an inverter+gas hybrid fuel system on Tuesday and made sure I could use my Ecobee. I avoided the HVAC systems that mandate their $1k proprietary thermostats for little gain.

I bought it from Shyt4Eversource. It was $40 cheaper but came with only one smart thermostat. It was enough for me.

Check with your local draconian electrical supply company for discounted smart thermostats.

What is Shyt4Eversource?

These are 139.99 in my local Costco, and have been for a while. And doesn't expire until 12/31/24. Last time this was posted I tried to compare the 2 and they look exactly the same. Not sure why such a wildly different price. They were $239 - $100 savings.

I have 2 of these (upstairs & downstairs) and at no point have I ever felt like I was "blasted with light" at night.

The remote sensors are a must if you have an odd location to meter temps in your house.

ah that makes sense for the sensors. Upstairs and downstairs doesn't have too much temp variability luckily so I just set a sleep schedule on my ecobee lite to set a comfort range at night. But useful for those that have big variability in temps. Thanks.

This seems like a lukewarm deal. My local energy company has the same pricing on these components:
Ecobee Premium (includes 1 sensor) - $150
2 pack sensor - $99 ($50 each)

I tried the Ecobee (came from a Nest) & I just didn't like it.
Why I didn't like the Ecobee?
1. The temp of the unit was hot (yes electronics is hot), behind was insulated. I can set-the offset to adjust bla bla..

2. When I set the temp to e.g. 78 it would power cycle... get to that temp & power cycle / stop.. I had to adjust the offset again.. for temp, so if you set it to 78, make it go to 77 basically.

3. The info far as usage etc, it has a ton more info than Nest, however you HAVE TO LOG INTO YOUR Ecobee with a computer to see all of that. I don't really care about all the -analytics but I'd like to at least see e.g. like the Nest has.... shows AC / Heater ran for 3 hours yesterday on the app.

4. Note, Ecobee support was very helpful with my scenarios and such, I ultimately didn't feel like the Ecobee was worth $200+ & returned it to Costco. I had a Nest gen 1 and went back to a Nest Gen 3. I really like the Nest Gen 3 now. All in all, if you get the Ecobee, it is FULLY customizable & some of that customization, is needed to get it dialed in. Do you want to do / mess with that? Up to you. Hope this helps.

This. I've only ever bought tstats through a utility due to the discounts. For me that's Eversource for electricity and CNG for NG. The rebate is limited per year per customer. In CT the max is 3/customer/year. If you're technically a customer of 2 different utilities like I am, that means my limit is 6 (3/ea utility) but pricing is the same for both.

Sometimes they can have killer deals - got a bunch of Nest units that included a Google Home for $5/ea. The Nests wound up being pieces of crap but the Home's I sold a few and gave a couple away as presents.

Maybe for the stand alone t-stat but with the 2 sensors, this is a good price.

Usually local energy company gets rebate from the state. You can submit Costco receipt to get the extra rebate check from your state program.

It is for one with 2 sensors. Plus you can also get rebate from local utility, reducing price even more. I actually have too many sensors now

I have two of these, one for each zone. I enjoy using it as a HomeKit thermostat, Siri voice terminal, and even an AirPlay target, if you like listening to music on a super tiny speaker.

Also, when you do a HomeKit "announcement", it comes though on that speaker like it's a HomePod. Pretty unique.
