You don't have to be samsung employee. It's called EPP which is available to many employers. You can sign up for AAA and get same discount.

Not a good tv. Entry level, 60hz refresh rate. I believe this one is the same model or very similar. https://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews...q60cd-qled

I'm sorry, but how exactly does one use AAA to get this pricing? TIA
Go to aaa.com/samsungshop, you need to enter your AAA details and then there will be link to go to samsung site to make any purchase. It will ask you to login to samaung site to enable the discount. It almost always same discount as EDU/EPP

Check your employer deals & discounts hub as well. I work for a major airline and I'm able to see this price in the cart with creating an account under my work email!

You tried but failed to insult him. It is 2024, a 60hz refresh does typically align as a value TV. Very very few exceptions (can only think of one). Every midrange TV and up by any notable manufacturer is 120hz. Besides, he didn't say it was entry level BECAUSE it has a 60hz refresh, he said it was entry level, and has a 60hz refresh.
His actual post states that it's not a good TV. He then provides his justification of it being entry level and 60 htz.

If you think that all entry level and 60hz TVs are not good then you too are clueless about TVs.

Does anyone know how many dimming zones there are? People say it is just similar to regular LED TV with almost no local dimming

Ok. The rting review on the similar model says there is just NO local dimming, so it is just a regular LED TV with fancy naming.

I have UN65NU740D from 2018, bought from Costco ($879 in 2018 dollars). Screen took a toy hit and now has 3" blank spot lines.

That brings me in the market for a TV.

I appreciate good PQ but can't really differentiate between 120/60 etc.

Compared to UN65 model, if I were to buy CU65 ($400 at BB) or QN70 (in this deal), would I be

- Stay same

Any insights are appreciated!

Tell me you know nothing about TVs without telling me....a refresh rate of 60hz doesn't signify that a TV is no good.
I know a bit but my main point is its an entry level tv with poor ratings and the fact that its a 60hz refresh rate these days means it most likely does not have great specs. Not that you certainly can't watch most content with that rate but other specs will make it a mediocre viewing and user experience.

I ordered this. Should be good enough for my uses and seems like a good deal for a decent 70" TV. Replacing a 2016ish 65inch Vizio that started intermittently turning off recently. Not looking for the best obviously, but for cost to performance in this range, this seems solid. Thanks for posting.

Again, I can't agree but that's ok. Correct me if I'm wrong but 60hz is more than enough because most movies and television shows aren't filmed at higher frame rates. In fact, 60 fps is rare let alone 120 fps. Most theaters run projectors that are much slower than 120 fps.

This TV also has VRR which is a variable refresh rate.

Even for the PS5, the majority of the games released run only on 60hz. There are only about 100 games on the ps5 that run at 120hz.

I agree. My 60 inch Samsung I got in 2013 set me back a bit. It finally went out last year and I was shocked how cheap a 75inch and 85inch were. I bought both for the price I paid for that one TV back then. What shocked me even more than the cheap price was how lightweight these TVs are now. That 2013 TV was well over 100lbs.
I think our first flat screen was a 52" 1080p Sharp in the mid-90s and I bought it on discount at a Sears center that normally distributing power tools and such (like an annex). It was $1500.

Some guys seem to get all spec crazy while most of us bipeds aren't gonna really notice too much variability. You see this in the computer world as well. It's a bit of a dick wagging contest it seems. Go with what you think looks good and is functional and within your budget.

Is this better than TCL Q6 series?

Thank you, I ordered it last night.

I will have opportunity to play same content (Prime, Hulu … no gaming) side by side and see difference.

My bar is low - I want same PQ as that of 2018 tv which had up scaled 120 rate and I think I am going to get that PQ with this one.

As an SDer, FOR ME, getting a deal and keeping it in budget was more important than plonking $2k on a top of the line tv. I spend money other ways like buying Red Wing shoes for $400 which others may find unappealing.
