Nice price but has an infrared remote which is more of a pain. If you need one now then sure get it but there are often sales for the better models for only $5 more

This is the version with no power and volume control. Just making sure you know what you're getting.

Actually this is better because replacement IR remotes for roku are cheap. I got the Roku stick (bluetooth remote) for $20 on sale for my parents and a year later the remote stopped working, I tried every single method I could find to get it to work again and nothing worked. I had to buy a new remote and because it uses bluetooth i had to get an original one made by Roku (no 3rd party) at a price of $20!

Yeah but any of the not "Stick" models work with both types of remotes. I'd only recommend getting this one if you already have one of the remotes with volume and power like from an older model or one that stopped working.

Yeah but any of the not "Stick" models work with both types of remotes. I'd only recommend this model if you already have one of the better remotes from an old or broken Roku that you can pair to it. Volume and power on the remote are too good to not spend a few $$ more for.

I got two of this model direct from Roku for either $5 or $10 a piece during one of their targeted deals. THAT was a deal that was too good to pass up. But I still waited till I found a deal on a couple used Volume/Power remotes before I started using them.

All I'm saying is I don't consider an IR remote a con as it can be cheaper to replace.

This is normal price. Crazy this is getting upvoted. $30 for the other models would be almost normal. Absurd.

It is a con. IR remotes have all sorts of problems with direction. It's so much nicer having a bluetooth remote and not having to worry about the input being ignored because it wasn't pointed in the right direction.

How does this even work with IR? Sticks often connect at the back of the TV. There would no line of sight for the IR. Does the stick only work with TVs with side-mounted HDMI ports?

This isn't a stick. It's a little mini "box". It has micro usb for power and comes with short hdmi and power cords so it can be placed below or above the tv. It can be used with an RF remote if you already have one or buy one separately which would allow tucking it behind the TV. It comes with a usb AC adapter to plug into the wall or can be powered off the TV usb. The next model up, Roku Express+, is the same "box" but includes the RF remote.

The Roku Stick 4k is faster, more expensive and has better WiFi. But it only works with the RF remote, no IR, because it's designed to be tucked behind the TV. All other Roku models work with both types of remote.

Still doing that???
I had a Roku stick that kept doing that and I was concern it might damage my TV or receiver's HDMI port.
I'm wary of so many Roku model number containing the letter R
Which means refurbished.
