Run the Command Prompt on your Windows machine, making sure to run it as an administrator.
Once Command Prompt is open, type 'powercfg/batteryreport' and hit Enter.
The battery report will be saved in the drive on the laptop, with the URL displayed on the prompt screen.
Use this URL or look for the battery report file in the system's C drive.
Open the file and look for 'DESIGN CAPACITY' and 'FULL CHARGE CAPACITY'
The difference between these numbers will help you figure out the drop in capacity.
Thank you for these instructions. I ran the report any found the battery is at 70% of design capacity. I sent an email requesting a replacement and will see how they respond.

Usually within a day or two they'll ask for confirmation that you are comfortable replacing it yourself and ship it after receiving your message.
Absolutely do not buy refurbished laptops. I can tell you that theses are just heavily USED! These companies should be ashamed to piggyback off the word factory refurbished. No, they are USED and are not worth it!
I have an opposite opinion. I've had great luck with refurbished laptops and monitors from Dell and prefer refurbished business grade laptops over consumer focused models.
my recent purchased machine is practically new other than I had to get it de-registered on azure. yeah there can be issues but the value is there
I somehow missed this when originally posted for $300. I would've jumped on it. I'm 100 miles from the nearest Microcenter so I would've had to add the $20 shipping fee. My 5420 for $285 showed up this morning. Was expecting some wear and tear, this thing is pristine. Even still has the sticker around the power button showing it's also the fingerprint reader. Powercfg doesn't appear to be present, is that a Win11 thing? It's currently downloading Win11 pro to update to. Was thinking of returning it before seeing what great shape it's in. My previous Ryzen permanently throttled itself so I think I'd rather have the i7.
