Few games are. CC is still an excellent game with one of the most beautiful soundtracks of any game ever.

Great game but I've heard the Switch port was not that great at launch. Hopefully it's been addressed by now

I want, but my backlog is too long. I'm sure whatever I save I'll get back in interest if I wait

CAREFUL! this is not nearly as good as Chrono Trigger
And yet, it's still a fantastic RPG. CT is my favorite game of all time, I was sorely disappointed that Cross wasn't the sequel to CT that Square advertised and yet, Chrono Cross is probably one of my top 10 favorite RPGs. Combat is fantastic, the art direction is amazing (technically it's still 20+ year old game's assets even with "HD" upgrades), the story is engrossing, and the music... amazing.

A lot of people wrote off Cross because it wasn't the sequel to CR that Square promised and that's the first thing that comes to their mind when this game comes up, but they missed out, IMO. This game is well worth playing if you like turn-based RPGs.

The music alone sends this game to the top.

It is great, it just isn't as good as Chrono Trigger.

I'd agree with you except the only way to get Skies is a used copy on the Dreamcast or GameCube, and definitely cost way more than $10... Not to mention needing the appropriate hardware if you don't already have one of those systems. They really need to rerelease Skies in a more modern format.

Gonna be honest... I loved all the FF games. Loved Chrono Trigger. Loved Xenogears, which was largely from the same team. So when Chrono Cross originally came out, obviously I was stoked. Paid full price for it. I think I played it once and then never looked at it again. I just couldn't get into it right from the get go. Was I missing something back then? I'm sincerely open to reevaluating and giving it another shot 25 years later!

This game definitely starts off a bit more unconventionally/weird compared to all of the other PS1 RPGs which were mostly knights/dragons settings or sci-fi settings vs this game's setting was what someone on acid came up with. The battle system too, kinda hard to grasp from the get go but it's so much better as you go on. The game's full of some crazy ass twists and events too, but the first few hours can feel like a slog.

The start was a slog, so required you to give the story some time and not let the lack of a level system a shot. The whole game was like a JRPG soap opera lol, bizarre but so worth the investment in my opinion.

Oh god, I loved this game so much as a teen, I can't count how many times I played through it...is it the best game ever made? No, but it was so unique and interesting for it's time... I'm gonna grab it on steam, now all I need is the original Chrono trigger, translated from Japanese to keep the funny adult dialogue, dragon warrior IV, and secret of mana, to complete my childhood nostalgia collection...
