There is absolutely no benefit to redeeming in MA over iTunes. The movies will port to MA and connected services in the exact same fashion if you redeem in iTunes. In fact, some Fox 4K blu-ray movie codes, like the Planet of the Apes reboot trilogy, will only port to MA in HD if you redeem in MA. If you redeem them in iTunes, you get the 4K version ported to MA. So even though you're buying the 4K movies, you're not always getting the 4K digital code by redeeming in MA.
I'm just trying to provide helpful information. You do you.
I hate Apple products, but I always redeem my MA movie codes in iTunes if it's available as a redemption option. This is because you get the 4K version in iTunes if they upgrade the movie. Redeeming in iTunes will still port the movie to MA and connected service. MA will most likely not upgrade your HD movie to 4K. You should always redeem a MA movie in iTunes if it is available.
For example, I received the Captain America HD blu-rays. Winter Soldier and Civil War redeemed in iTunes in 4K and ported to MA in 4K. Had I redeemed them in MA, they would've only been in HD in MA and every connected service, including iTunes.

I think they are clearing out the warehouse with the Disney Movie Club closing down. I wonder if the insiders program will still offer any physical media once the change over to Sony doing everything is complete.
I have my doubts so I have been picking up these blurays going through what used to be 12K+ points down to under 4500.

Has anyone every had luck with the Mystery dvd/bluray's?
I assume they basically just send you whatever they have the most inventory / slowest moving, but I was just curious if anyone ever pulled something not listed or higher value points wise?
I've redeemed for them a few times in the past, and these are among the titles I have received:
Disney's A Christmas Carol DVD
National Treasture DVD (2x)
The Sorcerer's Apprentice
Atlantis 2-Movie Collection Blu-ray + DVD Combo Pack
Tinkerbell and the Lost Treasure Blu-ray + DVD (2x)
Deja Vu Blu-ray (2x)
Beverly Hills Chihuahua Blu-ray + DVD
Onward Blu-ray + DVD + Digital Code (4x)
TBH, some of these are from the preceding DMR program. I don't think Deja Vu (the 2006 Denzel Washington thriller) was ever available for redemption from either DMR or DMI.
My experience has been that if you redeem the Mystery Blu-ray/DVD more than once at the same time, you'll receive multiples of the same title.
PSA for people saying "always redeem in iTunes so you get 4K." Disney (and/or Apple) is apparently in the process of removing the automatic upgrade. Read more here: https://www.reddit.com/r/DigitalC...eems_from/
It looks like Black Panther is confirmed not to work. Also, Fox movies now owned by Disney don't automatically upgrade to 4K.

You're misunderstanding. The post you reference is taking about how Disney removed the iTunes option for many movies. However, many others still have the iTunes option and give you 4K if it's available in 4K in iTunes. The post isn't talking about removing the upgrade for movies still redeemable in iTunes.
Also, you don't always get 4K. You get 4K if it's available in 4K in iTunes. There's a difference.
I redeemed 2 of my Ice Age movies from DMI in iTunes. I got HD because they only have HD in iTunes. If those movie listings ever get a 4K upgrade in iTunes, I'll get the upgrade in iTunes. I also did get 150 DMi points on each from the iTunes redemption, which I wouldn't have received from redeeming in MA because they're Fox codes.

Yes, I realize I misunderstood about the Fox movie codes. I've seen elsewhere that anyone redeeming a non-4K code for some Disney/Marvel movies are not getting upgraded even though they're available in 4K on iTunes. So it may be the beginning of the end of the free 4K upgrades via iTunes.

I have this same thought. Also noticed they have not had a giftcard option for the past month.
Wondering if they will keep the program at all once the shift to Sony is complete.
Do you also buy the SD option instead of HD for the same price? You make absolutely no sense as he explained how you only shoot yourself in the foot by redeeming in MA instead of iTunes.
For anyone else out there, ALWAYS REDEEM ITUNES OVER MOVIES ANYWHERE. Apple's free upgrade to 4K will only happen if you redeem (or buy) a MoviesAnywhere title on iTunes.
Edit: I'll add the caveat you should be checking the 4K redemption sheet, but here we are talking about the Disney Movie Insider reward program.
Is there a link to the excel/drive for the "4K redemption sheet"?

Interesting, I think I'll be doing that now. Thank you for that tip! Now what about if your options are only between iTunes and Vudu? I usually just choose Vudu because I can easily watch the movie on my Android devices. But I'm assuming since MA isn't an option then the whole 4k iTunes upgrade is kinda pointless if I can't watch the movie anyway, right? Or maybe I'm getting lost in the jungle of all these services.

If it's MA compatible, I will always pick iTunes. If it's Vudu or iTunes only, I usually pick Vudu because I can only watch iTunes-only content on my TV and laptop. There's an Apple TV app for AndroidTV but not for mobile Android devices
You can actually get points doing both (but some have had their extra points taken away after an audit so I just give them away). The iTunes redemption will show in your DMI account as "Movie Submission" as if you paid money for the movie on iTunes.
I tried redeeming in DMI and it said already redeemed
