A heads up: If you abuse buying discounted phones and activating then immediately canceling AT&T service too often, you will eventually be banned by AT&T from activating service anymore.

Believe it or not, that type of gaming is tracked and no one will be able to fix that for you.

Ex-AT&T employee.

PS: If you don't care, that's fine. But If you do, then you should be aware of this and pick your deals carefully.

The Ultra/256gb unlocked is $421, no need to go thru all the cancellation hassle , better deal imo.

they are dropping 50 every two weeks. I would wait, these phones are not selling like hotcakes. I considered s24 ultra during googlefi launch promo and rolled back because the price is too steep to what it has to offer. I expect the s23 to drop in price till they clear the inventory.
Also s24 have similar att offers through best buy for +$100 to $150

I saw some comments about getting S23U for low $400s, which is a strong deal, but with the prices listed on the OP I'd definitely look into S24 offers from Google Fi, assuming you can get instant credit.

Great deal. I'd say the only reason to buy the 24 over this one like I have, is if you need dual eSIM active at the same time. I run a Tello and a south America line on the same phone no need to swap between profiles.

The thing is, these discounts come directly from retailers not from the carriers. So IMO opening and cancelling an account only hurts the consumer in the long run. I doubt the providers and/or retailers are taking a hit hard enough for them to be concerned. Us as consumers trying to keep a good credit history might be the ones who should be concerned the most. As a business, Best buy knows Samsung over prices thier products. AT&T as a business, knows they over price thier service as well. Ultimately though Mr. Fires' advice is good advice. Good luck fellas.
ATT mentions that it's a soft credit check and most doing this deal confirmed it. So it should not affect your credit score but I'd suggest if possible doing these deals by adding/cancelling line on an existing ATT account. There's always a risk of ATT coming after you for that but you won't have a credit check etc.

S24 on FI is $349 plus $120 for 4 months of service but S24U on FI is still a good offer for $650 plus $120 for 4 months of service.

It is my understanding that on the 23 you need one physical and one eSIM for it to work. Supposedly, you can't dual eSIM. But you can one sim on slot 1 and eSIM 2nd

I'd say the service expenses should be ~$80-100, depending on whether you can get referral credit for the 'new' line. $10 in taxes on top of $20/month base fee is pretty extreme. I do agree that the base S24 model is probably the worst deal of all, with S24+ / S24U getting more enhancements over predecessors.

MEP (dual-eSIM) works on Pixel 7 / 8 and S24, I imagine Samsung will enable it on S23 at some point. They're somewhat slow, a family member had an S20 which didn't let them use eSIM for the first couple of years of ownership. Samsung enabled it via software update couple years after the phone release.

Am I correct in thinking we won't lose OTA's if we flash unlocked firmware? I'm reading that we won't unless we unlock bootloader, correct?
