A heads up: If you abuse buying discounted phones and activating then immediately canceling AT&T service too often, you will eventually be banned by AT&T from activating service anymore.

Believe it or not, that type of gaming is tracked and no one will be able to fix that for you.

Ex-AT&T employee.

PS: If you don't care, that's fine. But If you do, then you should be aware of this and pick your deals carefully.

The Ultra/256gb unlocked is $421, no need to go thru all the cancellation hassle , better deal imo.

they are dropping 50 every two weeks. I would wait, these phones are not selling like hotcakes. I considered s24 ultra during googlefi launch promo and rolled back because the price is too steep to what it has to offer. I expect the s23 to drop in price till they clear the inventory.
Also s24 have similar att offers through best buy for +$100 to $150

Am I correct in thinking we won't lose OTA's if we flash unlocked firmware? I'm reading that we won't unless we unlock bootloader, correct?
That's correct, I've been flashing Samsung U devices to U1 for ages. Note, U1 is not 'unlocked' firmware, it is just Samsung firmware without carrier branding or apps. If your phone is locked, it will stay locked, and you might even lose ability to unlock it. The right order is to get the phone unlocked first, and then flash U1 on it if you want that 'stock' Samsung experience.

Well I'd be a first time offender and I need a phone but I already have mint mobile so how would I do this exactly? Is it pretty easy to cancel and have them unlock the phone?

Yes, that's right. It's the stock samsung image which will get updates on time.

Thanks Diman. Wrong choice of words on my behalf. I know firmware alone doesn't have the ability to unlock the phone. I just said it that way cause that specific firmware is only available on unlocked models. Also, I think the ability to unlock lies solely with the IMEI and the carriers database. Flashing a different firmware won't affect the IMEI at all. It didn't when I played around with my S9 a few hears ago. But best for most to simply follow OP's instructions. Thanks again.

Any suggestions to buying online and having it shipped without having them port my number? Looks like all the stores around me are out of stock and they require you to make the purchase in person if you want a new number assigned. Not sure why they can't do that online too?

No, you have to port a number. I'd suggest getting a google voice or tello number and port in over.

Same! Still an awesome phone with no reason to upgrade!! Smilie
It was a great a phone that's why, truly the first s22 ultra (s21u while a great phone, was not a true ultra, or it was the last ultra, with s22ultra and beyond is the note under a different name.)

I'm not seeing a S23 Ultra unlocked at $421. It would be a no brainer over S23+.
How do u get it
