do you mean putting the SIM that was shipped with the phone or the sim from another phone on the account?
I meant SIM from the ATT account on which you are adding this new line. But if I'm reading your update properly, you have already got them agreed to provide unlock code so I'll just focus on getting it.

I will focus on that but if I don't get the unlock, just wanted to be sure I understood. The new phone came with a sim--are you referring to that sim or a sim from a phone that was already on the account?

SIM from a phone already on the account. That line is now new and they should not give you a hard time with the unlock code if the S23 is associated with that line.

I am in the same boat as you. The unlock process was denied several times for me, and the support rep was no help. He just kept citing the 60 day policy. I have not cancelled my new ATT service yet, but I was going to do so tomorrow.
are you planning or just canceling the service and having a locked phone for like ipad use or canceling and returning the device to best buy?

According to their unlock policy they should unlock the device once 60 days have passed from activation. (Even if the service is canceled). I am looking for more evidence of this before I decide.

Purchased two AT&T S23 phones last week, one for myself and one for my partner, both in my name. One unlock worked as described, the other failed.
Attempted one more purchase, this time in her name, and this unlocked failed as well.

Both times that failed, the error in the unlock email was that the account hadn't been active for 60 days.
Not sure why the one phone worked, as the first two attempts were within minutes of each other.

Any ideas on getting them unlocked?
Has anybody waited 24h and tried again?
Has a rep helped unlock, and if so, what were the magic words?
Wonder if canceling and waiting 60 days would do the trick or if purchasing an unlock code on eBay would be better.

Try open the AT&T website on the incognito tab after sim swab. When it shows the new device not the S21, move onto the unlock and cancellation process WHILE STAYING ON THE INCOGNITO TAB.

For those having problems getting the unlock code through chat. Male sure you type in Tech Support through chat. Those are the agents that will be able to get you the unlock code. You need to make sure you reach that department. Not a billing agent.

For those who haven't done this deal yet, there's an Amex offer for AT&T. Spend $65 get $40 back. That should cover activation fee and then some.

Would H2O wireless SIM which use AT&T towers work on this S23 phone without going through unlock process?

I got through to a tech support agent and they cited that the account was under 60 days old. They did agree that the device was unlock eligible. Is it just a matter of finding the right agent?

Edit: They even supposedly reached out to a supervisor for an override, and came back with the same thing.

Man, that's unfortunate you keep getting told to wait 60 days. At this point I'm not sure if one of the previous reps put those notes in your account, making it useless to keep trying. Cause the next rep is just gonna go off what's on your account notes. Personally I would try another time. Especially if you're being told the device is unlock eligible. Good luck tho.
