Math on this deal:
By the numbers, this is not a good value when compared to other products I've analyzed on this post's wiki. Price per gram of protein is high, amino composition is meh at best, and it is less than 50% protein, both by calorie and by mass.

If you buy it, it should be for a subjective reason, such as liking the taste, the small package size/low initial investment, brand-loyalty, or belief the ingredients are better/healthier than competitors.

Thank you for all that work on analyzing the protein. I ended up visiting my local Vitamin Shop and looking at their clearance section. Because of all of the breakdowns you have done I could easily tell which brands were what I needed and if the price was good.

I am pre diabetic and looking for a protein option that won't spike my glucose. The internet recommends this. Does any of you here have an advice?

Not this specific deal, but when Costco periodically has a coupon for in-warehouse Orgain vegan protein + 50 superfoods blend i like that one for the 50 super foods, brand, price, etc. i think the 50 superfoods and vanilla or similar flavor makes it more of a specialty product than the 100% pure proteins list.

Thank you SO much for your analysis though!!!!!

They probably don't mean protein shakes.

They probably meant to eat more chicken, fish, egg whites, and other lean protein sources while restricting carbohydrates, especially refined sugar and flour, not getting too many carbs in a single dose, which spikes blood sugar.

My manservant beat T2 and is no longer diabetic or prediabetic. He did so with a high-protein, low carbohydrate (not keto - more carbs than that, but <150g/day and <40g/meal) diet, combined with strength training.

Protein shakes were not a significant portion of the diet. Sometimes useful if you need a high-protein, low carb meal and don't have time to reheat some meat.

If you use a protein shake, it should be a low carb one. Whey isolate is probably your best choice, and there is currently a deal on that: https://slickdeals.net/f/17360511-4-5-lbs-isopure-100-whey-isolate-protein-powder-creamy-vanilla-51-25-w-s-s-free-s-h?src=SiteSearchV2Algo

If you are vegan, pea or soy isolate are good choices:

Yeah, vegan protein is always gonna have a weaker amino acid profile but that's the trade off for lower cholesterol and less dairy induced acne. At least orgain flavors are generally really good.

This is true, but:
- This product does not compare well in terms of value or macros when compared to other vegan options.
- Whey isolate usually overcomes the acne and cholesterol issues. Those are problems with whey concentrate.

As for flavors, totally eat what you like! Food should be enjoyed!

I'm a cat, and my primary diet is Fancy Feast Gravy Lover's. I know it's crap and the shreds are mostly wheat gluten and not real meat, but it's still freakin' delicious and freak out if my manservant tries to give me health food.

My manservant swigs his protein powder so fast I don't think he tastes it at all.

Eat cinnamon. Often. Put it in your drinks, oatmeal, anything. Eat NO sugar Ever. Loose belly fat you could never get diabetes. have at least one gram of protein for every kilo you are

This. A bunch of people talking about cinnamon or other magical remedies are delusional. Like many other health issues, the best ways to treat are to eat healthier by being more conscious of what you eat and to exercise more. Also work with an endocrinologist or dietician to focus on diets reducing insulin resistance.

now this kind of slickdeals schizoposting I can get behind ๐Ÿ‘ Anyways your post doesn't mean much since your own analysis page says the following:

This protein powder is horrific. I would never purchase or consume this if my life depended on it.

First of all, the fact that it's in a plastic tub and only contains 10 servings (of 20g of protein) shows why our earth is headed for environmental disaster. Secondly, it has 5g of erythritol and 5g of seed oils per serving. Thirdly it's filled with tons of natural flavors and gums. Just why? All the intestinal gas, diarrhea, and cellular inflammation is not worth 20g of protein.

Do yourself a favor and just buy plain pea protein if you want a vegan protein. This stuff is garbage.

P. S. I'm an omnivore who generally prescribes to a plant based healthy diet taking cues from the Mediterranean diet and the Blueprint diet.

Please talk to a physician (MD or DO) or licensed dietician. There are so many... Wonderful people posting on this site nowadays Wink

Anyways an insulin spike after consuming protein and exercise is normal, it's part of your body's natural healing and muscle building pathway. Most protein is sugar free anyways.... I wouldn't worry too much as any big brand name should suit you well. Source: educated at an accredited institution
