Since these are Bluetooth, they cannot be controlled by Alexa or similar tech. Govee app only.
Note the 100ft is going to be dimmer than the 60/50ft because of the length and power dropoff. (at least on this version, the WiFi one might have corrected this, but if you need brightness, go shorter or get the 130ft.) Absolutely no complaints with (any) of their strips with this one caveat.
Govee makes super dim lights. Each light has a large space to make the strip longer.

I've been in the market for music syncing lights for a while, is there something you'd recommend? I had looked at philips hue but then read they were discontinuing support and delisting the app.
Govee are fine, the problem is you gotta buy the mid to upper tier of their lights. For this style look for the ones labeled RGBIC, Then ideally get the more expensive version of those, as theres 2 or 3.

I know this is slickdeals, but I feel like its not worth it to be as cheap as possible with lighting, unless its an actual slick deal and the light has very high CRI and is a great price.

I think this is a pretty good deal. Ideal for tucking behind cabinets and furnitures for decorative lighting. Can be pulled into basement, attic, or small storage spaces that does not have a light socket.

I don't want "fine", I want what works and works well. I'm fine investing but I don't know the first thing about this stuff. But obviously I'd need multiple lights to be able to all communicate to each other and sync to music. Preferably one that is directly connected.
I had at one point bought a set of mercury bulbs and then half of them were out of range to even connect to the wifi. So that was a waste. And the app was terrible anyway. I'm not even sure I could sync that one to music either.

Different styles friend. Mine is normally $100 (69 for Me) an lights up the studio an I keep it dimmed to like 30%. It divides 65ft at halfway to make sure each 32 ft length isn't dim at the end. an also it has more leds per foot than the $9/(30) one. I also have rgb/w because I need white to do work/daily life. For 69$ I'm not mad at mine. But doing the research you are correct on this strip. That's why I got the 65ft rgb/w.

Will these lights turn on jf plugged jnto an outlet that is controlled by a switch? I don't want to use my phone every time to turn the lights on and have outlets that switch on via a wall mounted switch.
Fwiw they also have a control button on the power supply side for on/off and will resume last mode as well as change modes/brightness (at least in theory) you can see it on the first of the device pictures, it's the rounded rectangular thing.

The only time you definitely need to use your phone is for the music function which requires a Bluetooth connection, even with Wi-Fi govee lights, and at least in android the app to be in the foreground with the screen turned on.

Costco sells a 20 foot for 25 bucks. Why so expensive vs govee

If you're referencing the FEIT color chasing strand, many differences. Costco ones are rated for outdoors (clear "gel" covering), have two dedicated white diodes (true whites instead of emulated through RGB) and are segmented to be individually addressable (not each diode, but groups of diodes so you can do multi-color effects). FEIT are also 24v as opposed to these which are likely 12v?

Try this
Those look pretty good but not as many colors as the Govee, I personally like that they are dimmable so I might get them. A reviewer posted that the adhesive was so strong that it took the paint off when he was removing it which is a plus to me.

I bought this last time it was on SD and thought it was great for the price. Came in 1 stripped and I wrapped around the whole room. Use for background / mood lighting. The app is very user friendly n easy to navigate.
