There are various models available at a great price. According to the hump site, this is the lowest price recorded. I have been looking for one, but wasn't willing to spend the $329.

HomeDepot has the same price: https://www.homedepot.com/p/Schla.../322082407

How is this a slick deal?? these have been $220 in the past.. come on OP.
10% off via Home Depot if you use a chase card and have the offer through them. Also buying through Home Depot means you can probably get the lock rekeyed to your existing ones by hd for free (at least Lowe's does that and HD did in the last for me... maybe that depends on the store though). Search sd for Home Depot for chase 10% offer.

I think I got mine for 230 though so prices can go lower. Also don't use lithium rechargeable in these only regular. Lithiums go from full to suddenly empty so you'll never get a warning to replace before it dies.

Anyone have this and the Aqara U100? I have the U100 on the door between the garage and the house and it has most of the same features but I have some issues with it. Sometimes it inadvertently closes the lock while the door is open and when someone closes the door the extended deadbolt damages the doorframe. It also requires a 6 digit PIN but my family is used to a 4 digit PIN on the Nest x Yale lock that came on the front door of the house.

The Nest lock mostly works but the HomeKit integrative Homebridge is sometimes spotty. I'm thinking about getting this lock to replace the Nest but it's still pretty expensive.

Anyone have any advice on installing one of these on an outdoor gate? Is this overkill for that application?

I bought this lock thinking I'll be able to unlock it with just my iPhone or Apple Watch. While I can do that, but then my wife can't as we don't have a Apple home hub (we're using Alexa), and so only one of us can add this lock to our individual Apple Home. There is the non-plus version that doesn't have this feature and that's how I'm using mine with Alexa and Ring app, and I would've saved some money buying the non-plus version. Anyway, it was my fault for not researching how the iPhone/watch swipe works, aside from that this has been a nice and reliable smart lock for me. If you don't have an Apple home hub or don't have an iPhone, you're better off buying the non-plus version.

So buy and iPad or Apple TV or Siri speaker

Otherwise why have the want to be in the ecosystem without o e basic thing

I've had this for 3 years. Probably change the battery once a year (normal AA batteries).
What batteries are you using. I have two and have to change the batteries on each about every 3 months. I use Energizer Max. Or maybe there is a setting I need to change to stop it eating batteries? Battery life is the one thing I don't like about this lock but accept it because it's two damn convenient w/ HomeKit and Home Key.

The side on the inside of the door has a removable plastic cover on top to remove the battery. I'm not sure how waterproof that is if you intend both sides of the gate to be exposed to the elements. I believe battery life would be poor as well as ideally your going to want a "thread" network for it to connect to (which is a low power wifi network devices like Apple TV, Amazon echo 4 make available). On wifi alone and at a long range your battery will likely drop quickly.

This is expensive. Should come with handleset at this price imo... Coming from someone who has 3 of them.
Like this set? What's the difference, on HD I see like 10 different results mostly different colors but not sure if I'm missing something.

Just fyi, this model is compatible with Airbnb app. If you are a host, you can use this keypad to auto-program unique keypad codes to be sent to the guest during the stay.

That's what I have them for. They're wonderful!

Sorry for not being clear. Yeah what op posted is just the deadbolt with no handleset. Sure there's a difference in models that allows Apple products to open the door, but that feature isn't worth it (to me) and I think it's expensive. It really isn't hard to key a pin. Unless you're trying to set up some entry access for a BNB, not sure why I'd want to connect access to my home to WiFi/digital. When I initially setup my encode I recall putting it on Google home Assistant then wondered why on earth id want to enable voice to control a door lock. (Anyone could just talk to Google through an open window). Just my opinion that this is expensive.. I bought my first shlage encode under 100$, second around 120$ (ebay).

I would stay clear of Schlage smart locks, or at least the non-motorized ones, but it makes me leary of the entire line of theirs. They have to be installed with the internal components installed in a specific way else the one button lock on the outside will actually allow it to be unlocked without entering a code. The problem comes that over time, the mechanism twists itself so that, even though the lock was working properly for awhile, one day the one button lock will become the one button unlock (with no code), making it so you have to take it apart and reinstall it the proper way again.
