I run mine in VA all the time, Uniden R series detectors have fantastic shielding so they are very difficult to be detected. As a resident, I wouldn't use it around town (personally don't speed really in town anyway) as it's a but riskier with getting caught, but I've driven past literally hundreds of Virginia State Police cars running radar and never had an issue.

Legal in 49 states. Just because you think something is illegal doesn't mean it is. The law is written in books not your mind.

Interesting that Sam's Club would sell these. I can't think of a legal reason to have one.

Wow TIL. I live in the ONE state where it's not legal and automatically assumed it was the case everywhere, especially since these are, as far as I know, only used to detect speed traps. laugh out loud

People still buy these? Wild.
Us old folk used to buy stand alone GPS units too until they started including GPS screens in vehicles. Don't think manufacturers are ever gonna include police radar detection but it would be awesomeSmilieSmilie Radar detectors used to be more popular when highway speed limits were 55mph.

I live in that state too and still run one. A radar detector ticket (if they find it) is better than a speeding ticket.

I run my R1 in town (nova). I just have it mounted inconspicuously and have the screen off just go by the sound.

Most people drive the speed limit and try not to put everyone's life in danger. I mean Waze is just as effective for high volume roads anyway. 🤷
The major times where my life was in danger was when the person in front of me was going slower than the speed limit.

I'ma be downvoted probably but real slickdeal is to just drive at a speed you won't get pulled over at. You'll save money from better gas economy and be less stressed. Most you save by driving fast is a few minutes anyway, unless you're doing like a Canonball run where you need to maintain 150+ mph.

I can see where the Mississippi law can be confusing. What they are stating though is that the general public cannot use Radar Guns (emitting radar) on public roadways.

Radar Detectors are fully legal in Mississippi

To help identify illegal speed traps! Didn't you ever watch the Dukes of Hazzard?
