I empty out the ash pan and bring mine back into the garage after every smoke. As someone else said, it's not going to last nearly as long if you leave it outside, even with a cover.

I found a grate that fits over the brackets, and bought a 9" pizza stone. Makes for a perfect deflector.

I use a 9" stone for small pizzas....make about 6 or 7 for 4 people at 10 mins each.....
I replaced the grate and keep the metal parts oiled....covered outside for 7 years...no rust.
I have the bigger model now too, but this Jr model is more efficient with charcoal.
