Good mouse, have been waiting for to go on sale. I've used it the past 4 years., and it's still working although the rubber coating has peeled considerably. I tried a cheaper Anker model and it wasn't nearly as good, so back to this I go for round 2.

My favorite mouse of all time. I've purchased three of them.

That's odd.... three? "Why three? " you ask. Because of Logitech's absolutely abysmal reliability. There is a very well know issue with this mouse's clicker switches. Search google for "mx vertical drag" or "mx vertical microswitch". There's actually a mini-industry of people providing the service of replacing this (and others, as well) mouse's switches once they inevitably fail.

But it's still my all time favorite mouse. I finally had to draw a line and stop buying them on principle. I'm currently using their other vertical mouse, the "Lift". It's ok. The vertical MX Vertical was much, much more comfortable for me with my big hands. Oh well.

If you do buy this, get the amazon extended warranty. I promise you that YOU WILL USE IT. Fair warning provided....

I have tried all kinds of ergonomic mouses. If you are looking for something that would alleviate your shoulder pain, go with the Ergo M575 trackball mouse. It is a game changer. It would take a day or two to get accustomed, but once you are through, there is no going back.

How well do these work without special software installed? Is there any significant functionality being given up?

On my gaming PC I use a G604 Lightspeed which has been a good mouse, but the Logitech software is just awful, doing stupid things like keeping a whole CPU core pegged at 100% while sitting in the background doing nothing, and so I live with reduced functionality without the software.
I dont use any software installed and it works great

Same. Only good things to say about mine.

Definitely go with this over the Lift if you have larger hands. I have this at home and Lift at work; both are fine for me but there's a noticeable size difference.

I'm not familiar w/ the master 3s model but I have both the Logitech Lift and and the Logitech MX Vertical. Logitech Lift clicks are silent whereas the Logitech MX Vertical clicks are not.

There are Youtube videos that compare the two mice in which you can hear the difference in click sounds.

somehow mine has been working fine for over 2 years, and so was all my other logitech mouse (with exception of MX master 2, where the rubber next to the thumb area fail apart after 4 years)

not to say your experience isn't true, but it is atypical. for the simple fact that this mouse (and so are most of their mouse) carries 2 year warranty.

for them to engineering a mouse that intent to fail within 2 years in large numbers, is asking them to bleed money.

I have one and it failed (developed double click) after two years and three months, so out of warranty. I put in new omron switch to fix double click issue, still working fine. Will keep doing that until the rubber wears off completely. Have Lift and that one failed in 16 months. Keep in mind that that one has 1 year warranty. Will have to replace omron switch there as well, there are repair manuals online that require soldering. JFYI.
Buying ano ther one for the office.

I've had mine since 2020 and I've had no problems with it. On average I use mine 30 hours a week for the last 4 years. I also have the ergonomic keyboard by Logitech and I use that primarily for the same duration of time. Techies I use the keyboard more as I am a software engineer so I'm constantly typing through the course of my work day.

I've had no problems and I would definitely recommend this especially for the price.

I loved mine until the soft coating started degrading and became sticky. YMMV.

I need the Lift to go on sale. Also, the Lift uses bolt receiver, whereas the MX uses the unified.

I agree. I've had 3 of them all with right click button failures just after the 2 year warranty expires. Logitech replaced one of them outside of warranty but not the others. I love the mouse but it seems like they are designed to last just beyond the warranty.
