If you can stomach an unnamed brand, you can find a $40 8-port 2.5 gbits switch on Alieexpress. If you ask how I know - cause I just ordered two myself.
The same as any other device, good firewall rules.
How do you know they are not sending data packets back to mothership?

I would get the POE version so you can use this for wifi 6E or 7 access points too. That's the only reason I was looking into these 2.5G switches. You can get 10GBe SFP Mellanox/NVIDIA cards for your desktop cheap.
No point in buying this for APs with 2.5G POE ports because it lacks 10G SFP+ uplinks. Plenty of other makes/models in this price range have 1 or 2 SFP+ ports supporting 10G..

I got this one and it's even cheaper now at $10.27 for USB-A and $10.20 for USB-C.
Select your correct version as their page has 1Gb and 100Mbps USB adapters.

https://www.aliexpress.us/item/32...32837.html [aliexpress.us]

Works on Windows well and uses the newer Realtek RTL8156B (uses less power and therefore runs cooler).

I'm actually using it with a $46 Lianguo 8 port 2.5Gbe + 1 10GbE SFP+ and it's been working well for a few weeks. TP-Link outlet store.
https://www.aliexpress.us/item/32...64140.html [aliexpress.us]

Connected to the SFP+ port on my ASUS RT-AX89X router's SFP+ port and get 10Gb between the switch and router.
I used a $10 23ft SFP+ fiber cable (integrated passive OM2). Seems to be sold out and removed from their store but there are other sellers. The fiber cable is integrated with the 2 SFP+ modules so it's cheaper but if you are routing it between walls you may have challenges.

I think they are competing more with TEMU as I got all of them within a week from China. Just be sure to check the shipping time and make sure it gets free shipping (check the free shipping box when searching).
Good to know, I'll check it out!

Well considering some of those same no name brands are used/new on eBay for twice that. Good to know

I have been using this for a couple months now. No issues and is cheaper than bigger brands.

Tenda has been around for years. They use to sell all sorts of peripherals. Whether it's the same people running the company 15 years ago, not sure. But doesn't seem like a bad price if one is looking to graduate from a local 1 gig network or get 2 gig FiOS Internet.

Had their mesh APs and wasn't a consistent product and I'd lose WiFi few times a day. It's just one experience but I wouldn't recommend unless you are willing to deal with some hassles.

I'm confused - if this is an 8 port switch, what are ports 9-10 for?

Dumb question. What is so special about a NAS supported switch?

Though it would be nice if there's a cheap switch with a 16 port gig switch with maybe about 2-4 high speed ports for a NAS. Too bad there's none available.

What is NAS support? Is there a switch that doesn't support NAS?

One fo the things in life you dont want to cheap out on is network switches especially when a microtik, netgear, tplink, etc... is not that much more.
Id avoid any of this no name stuff. Youll see some youtubers praising it but then you deep dive into the forums and see all sorts of issues. I also dont trust their software.

Check if microtik has an alternative to this. They come out with high specs, low price quality products.

Of course I have to mention ubiquiti but they are usually pricey. Not sure about long term reliability with ubiquiti switches as I have had issues in the past, but their software is excellent. I do run a plethora of ubiquiti switches at home.
