Not the cheapest we've seen, but slightly better than the price of a FP sometime ago

These are not meant for theft and do a fairly poor job of preventing it. For example: they'll alert the thief that they are being tracked and show them where the tracker is. Apple also specifically states that FindMy should not be used for law enforcement purposes and many police departments won't help. That's not to say that people haven't used them to recover their stuff. More just that it's far from a guarantee that it will be helpful.

As for where I used them, I have them on all of my key chains. You can also hang them on your dog's collar, put them on a tv remote, all kinds of stuff. I stick to stuff that can genuinely be lost and not necessarily stolen. Your phone leads you right to them (with arrow a feet counter) so its handy for quickly finding things.

Is there a "top 10" most useful list people like to use these on, like airline luggage, or having some way to track a expensive toy that is "commonly" a target for theft like a Motorsport vehicle?

Luggage so you can keep an eye on checked bags - might help you resolve an issue when the airline says it's lost - also piece of mind when you can see that it's in the same area as your plane

Saw an article when they came out when someone intentionally lost a bag on a transit service - lost and found couldn't find it and said it wasn't there but they were able to retrieve it anyway because they were able to show the attendant it's here in the building and they used the sound to recover it

Good for pet collars as rudimentary dog tracker - not perfect but better than nothing

Can be put in your lunch carrier if you tend to forget it, will alert you when you're .25 miles away (might not be worth going back to get it but at least you'll know)

Chipolo makes a good flat card that works with find my to help recover a misplaced wallet before someone finds it

General asset tracking for equipment to keep tabs on location

let me know if you find any good alternatives! the random beeping noises from apple's anti-stalking features are driving me crazy https://static.slickdealscdn.com/ima...lies/smile.gif
I removed the speaker from mine. While the App will "point to it", it won't beep. I keep it hidden in my car in case of theft.

I tried these a couple months ago, very disappointing. The range is terrible and you can barely hear them beep. You can't share them with your spouse and they will only show last location for stolen stuff. I dunno why nobody can get these right.

We bought a 4 pack of these and unfortunately not had great experience. Used them for our stroller at Disney and the one time we needed to use it when our stroller got moved, our phones couldn't detect it because it was too dark out? Then, I have one on my key chain and my phone constantly says I have an unknown air tag tracking me, even though it's literally in my Find My app. I then try to ping it and it tries to say it's at home and not with me. Maybe anecdotal but not great.

I have a child that's travelling out of the country for a school trip. Could I put an Airtag in his suitcase without it beeping randomly or being annoying because my phone isn't nearby? My son doesn't have an iPhone. I just want to use it as a precaution in case his luggage goes missing. I've never tried these before.
