I picked up an open box good condition for $262 incl tax.. Will see if it's worth keeping. Been wanting a steamdeck oled but price is a factor. Also this will be easier to stream gamepass and ps remote play. I'm gonna boot up helldivers and see what kinda performance I get. If it's serviceable I think it's a great deal on a windows PC with built in controllers.
I have all consoles, a cfw switch oled, two gaming PCs. The switch can stream ps remote play and moonlight for PC streaming but moonlight requires host PC to be on.
Not sure if this will get screen time but I'm expecting it to be an emulation/streaming powerhouse with occasional low res low fps AA native PC gaming.
An ideal device would be the GPD win 4 with the better processor but that's 4x as expensive.
If helldivers works at 45-60 fps with low settings with this non-extreme SOC I'll be very happy. If not it's gonna get returned.

I'm just debating if I will pick it up or not as I already have a Steam Deck and a couple of Nintendo Switches (one launch console easily hackable). I'm only looking at this Z1 for emulation and playing Genshin Impact on Windows (it's cumbersome on Steam OS on my Deck). This Z1 is slower than a Steam Deck, but it's less than half the price of the Z1 Extreme's MSRP. It's not OLED, but it does support VRR and higher refresh rate on the screen (good for some indie titles).

I've got 2 Switches, one deck, 3 gaming PCs, a PS5 (but no Xbox series console), and recently got the RG35XX H for emulation up to PS1 titles. I think this Z1 can emulate up to Gamecube and a lot of the PS2 titles quite well (maybe a few paltry PS3 titles too?). Was watching Retro Game Corps on youtube regarding emulation capability on it versus the Deck and Z1 extreme. I was hoping this Z1 Ally was OLED, but I'll probably do the same thing and use it for a week to decide if I want to keep it.
Yup. that's pretty much the dealio. Not enough free time to play with all the toys. I wish I had access to all of this during high school when I had so much free time. There was a time when I could have modded my Wii U and the PS3 but I've already modded my Wii (it's just boxed now) and I hardly use my hacked Vita. I was tempted to upgrade my Deck to an OLED but I will just wait for the Deck 2. I will probably skip the Super Nintendo Switch launch because the screen is not OLED. I should probably just skip this device too. I really love electronics gaming devices though

Which Ryzen APU is the Ally's Z1 chip based on? Trying to see what the laptop APU equivalent is, seems like it might be more powerful than my 2020 G14 with Ryzen 4800H cpu.
