I agree with you that out of the box the monitor does have a yellow tint. But then I found these settings on reddit. After changing my settings to those, I don't see the yellow tint anymore. Make sure to turn off the Vision Engine. Now I like it so much that I'm considering to buy another one for my second monitor.

"Starter" monitor? I'd call it a "budget" monitor, but starter monitor feels like a really weird phrase. It's not like a starter snowboard that one would upgrade when one gains more skills. This is a very good monitor for perhaps 95% of people.

95% of people who are sweaty competitive gamers? It is a decent overall use monitor but I wouldn't use it on a small budget build.

Waste of money IMO if you can't do 2K, or get frame rates sub 100 you can't even use the refresh rate.

If 95% of people can use this monitor to its potential they are a LOT more competitive game players/ PC enthusiasts that play games at a high refresh rate than what the raw numbers show/ they want to run witcher 3 at 2k 165hz frames AAA titles etc/ their priorities in life are wild similar to strictly gamers. You need better color accuracy for a work monitor that has to do with media although 400 nits for this is a steal.

So technically it's a 1060 GTX 6gb in laptop form with some i5...
I guess I don't need it to run 144hz.
But native 2k, 120hz would be nice for kids Roblox and or Minecraft.
I could do 1080p/ 144hz alot easier I assume?
yes

running lower res is easier.
you can use 1440p for general task.. and go to lower setting when you are in game mode.

How does this monitor compare to the 27" Samsung Odyssey G50A, also for $200?

I would try the Samsung, honestly. I made what feels like a huge mistake and bought 3 of these things for $480 using a home office allowance from work and a "spend $599 get $120 statement credit" from Amex.

Every single one has poor color balance that I can't seem to tweak away from bluish green whites even with Rtings color profile and Rtngs/Reddit fine tuning recommendations, I have never had a monitor look so bad straight out of the box. There is also an annoying lack of brightness uniformity around the edges.

Very dissatisfied compared to the two $99 pandemic 24" UltraSharp U2412M 60 Hz IPS they were supposed to replace. I tried to dump one on my son who put it next to his 3 year old Acer Nitro XV272U 144Hz IPS (which only cost me $291) and it paled.

I don't know if I should invest in a calibration puck or just beg Dell to take them back with no restock fee.
