Mine at 100% charge gets 175 miles of range (don't turn on the climate because that knocks it down to 160 miles), dealer says they are working on a fix. But won't look at the car.

You may want to look at the Hyundai Ioniq 6. Rated for 360 mile range on a 100% charge, and Hyundai's been doing $7,500 cashback to offset the ineligibility for federal credits. And if you're really lucky, your state won't charge sales taxโ€”NJ didn't for mine.

Just checked Doug DeMuro score, he placed it above the Toyota Rav4 and VW ID4, so not so bad. His scoring is not the end all, be all. He also didn't take into consideration the outstanding $241/month lease.

99% of the continental US population lives within 50-100 miles of a Tesla supercharger...and the lowest range of any car they sell is 260 miles.... barring some really edge cases like the hinterlands of Montana is pretty hard to find any route you can't easily find chargers along the way for any given road trip. I agree the Subaru in question is primarily an around town car- not so EVs in general though.
I do not think it makes sense to plan a long haul trip around chargers. Imagine having to do that for gas.

Except....that's not a thing you actually have to do with a modern EV and access to the supercharger network.

I've taken lots of trips and never had to "plan them around chargers"- they're plentiful, and you're typically going to have a fair choice of which to stop at since the vehicle has hundreds of miles of range and there's lots of them along all major highways.

For example Raleigh to Charlotte, a trip of a mere 168 miles, you pass twelve supercharger locations along I-40 (each of those having a bunch of stalls).... and is so short a distance you need not even stop (and that doesn't include the chargers IN Charlotte or Raleigh).

Raleigh to Atlanta is 406 miles, so you'd actually need to make a stop on that one.. along that route you pass 23 supercharger locations without counting those IN Raleigh or Atlanta.

You can certainly find a few cherry picked spots in hinterlands Montana where it can get tough-- but anyplace like 99% of people drive you're gonna pass several in between charges.

look at the time wasted while waiting for a tesla van (gas powered too..ha) or AAA to arrive and change your tire...oh wait, Tesla has no spare tire. Hello flat bed tow truck. Nobody wants to deal with no spare tire on board.

Uh.... that's not a Tesla thing. It's increasingly common across all car types.

Stop embarrassing yourself in your irrational hatred of Tesla.

Today, approximately 30 percent of new cars come without a spare (up from just 5 percent in 2006) and it is estimated there are more than 30 million cars on the road that lack a spare tire

Nice lease payment, although range issues are obviously on the radar.

We are currently seeing the tip of the iceberg on upcoming massive price drops across the board, both for EVs and internal combustion cars and trucks. Demand for all has dropped to historic lows because of greedy pricing by manufacturers/dealers combined with high interest rates, tightened lending standards, and upside down trade-ins. Lots are overflowing nationwide, with even some new 2022 models still unsold. When the tipping point is reached in the next 6 months or so, 5 figure discounts off sticker will become the norm as dealers scramble to offload inventory in a buyer's market. Many dealers are facing bankruptcy as we speak unless drastic measures are taken to move cars that are costing them huge amounts in floorplan interest costs. It's time for them to pay the piper for the easy money they made during the pandemic.

Oh and I forgot to mention the underhanded, dishonest tactics and ridiculous add-ons from dealers. All of this combined has made the average car buyer detest the current "dealership experience". I'd love to go buy a new truck, but currently there is no way I'd set foot on a dealership lot with all of the above in mind. They can keep their $80,000 trucks; I'm not interested.
Cash buyers like myself will get some good deals soon I'm hoping, I don't care about interest rates as I'll never finance again. Bought a used 2020 car with 2k miles on it right before the pandemic car crunch, paid it off over a few months (thanks pandemic critical duty pay!) and have saved for the next car in the meantime. I'm waiting for a good fire sale to come around before I get something, then I'll gift this car to my daughter.

Isn't California trying to ban the sale of all gas cars?

You said exactly what I've been thinking about cash buyers. When the money supply is tight because of high interest rates, cash is king more so than ever. Cracks have already formed in automotive price stability. I think we all knew deep down that there's no way these crazy prices could sustain. There's a perfect storm of financial pressures happening to the consumer, with literally everything costing more. Most households are worse off financially than they were a few years ago after the double gut punches of inflation and high interest rates. A quiet recession is already underway with discretionary spending on things like restaurants and leisure travel. The pool of car buyers has shrunk to a puddle.

Why is it the worst?

I was sentenced to four days of renting one of these, whoever designed the interior had to have done so as a joke or dare. Quite honestly a clusterf$*k
