Yes, it is.
It's a normal way to type having to say lbs in this sense.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Number_sign

Cut to the chase: "#" became typeset symbol for earlier stylized, handwritten "lb." symbol from ≈200 years ago, denoting pounds of weight.(See example in Wiki handwritten by Issac Newton...)

Translation: "#" = "pounds" (weight)

I felt the argument of # meaning LBS was daft it was used and a designation for pounds for a long time before it was know as a hashtag lol. Sometimes the arguments on SD are more entertaining then actual items we are hunting lol.

not a fan of the internal frame (sag bag) packs since they get hot and pull too much on the shoulders, but for those who like them, these look decent.

And it's so much easier to say than the "tic tac toe symbol" or "naughts and crosses" Wink

More comments on the quality and usability of the backpack please.

This thread is full of # vs lbs discussion instead.

Any multi day hikers that can comment on the usability of this backpack as a day pack for long distance hiking, mountaineering?

Is the 65L a good pack for a 12 yo scout who really just needs a level up from a duffle bag for now, and might do some beginner level trail camping later?

For backpacking packs, sizing is important so that the backpack is properly fitted. Look up guides from a trustworthy site like REI on how to size someone for a backpack, and measure their torso length. This pack appears to be an adult sized pack based on pictures on the Slumberjack website, so it may be too big depending on the torso length of the person using it. If you don't want to risk it, it would be better to wait for a sale on a backpack that is specifically made to be youth sized.

I got the Outdoor Products for my kid years ago. It's been just fine for what it cost, but it's only seen <100 yards of actual walking, and I wouldn't doubt that it's height has gone from being too big to too small. Having grown up with aluminum external frames - how do people without expensive ultralight gear carry both tent and sleeping bag? I had to figure out the right size of bungee cords to strap the sleeping bag to the loops on the bottom, where it jiggles with every step, and the tent ended up not being used yet (good intentions fell through.)
