Taxes and fees are included. This is the normal price, so no reason to rush straight into it. So long as you haven't done it in recent past, take advantage of the free month first. Just make sure to cancel it a few days earlier, as they will renew it at that monthly plan a few days before the end of the trial period. You can cancel that and replace it straight into the $72 annual plan from their dashboard. Just did it last month. Perfect plan for a flip phone.

This is not a new deal. They've had this light plan for ages at this price

Tello may be your good option. No tax for data only plans. Can add some money for paygo calls.

$5 - 1GB/30 days, unlimited text, no calls
$6 - 2GB
$10 - 5GB
$15 - 10GB

Don't forget to get referral for $10 Tello money.
Good to know! Thanks for sharing.

Can you use the Verizon network as a trial for a month and switch to the T-Mobile network if you don't like it? I have used MVNOs with GSMT and GSMA and get good connectivity with them in my area and where I travel.

Also is USM is adding AT&T in June as has been rumored?

Thanks for the info nuetron, that explains why some say it's not available while others (like me) can use wifi calling on sammy devices on the verizon network.
It is the same with Samsung devices released globally that supports esim. If the Samsung device was not a US Based sku, the esim imei number would not register on US based carriers and the user would need to use a physical sim instead. One of the trade offs I guess for purchasing a global sku is usually much cheaper than US based skus.

This is not a good plan. Check out good2go mobile. $5 for unlimited minutes and texts, with 1GB of data, NO CUT OFF.
$5 prices does not include fees and taxes. For me it shows a total of $82.25. I am in Maryland.

Is this the best option in the MVNO world if we have a spare iPhone 13 and want to keep it at home 24/7/365? Basically we have no traditional landline, but our oldest child is old enough to be alone if we run to the store for 20 minutes. We aren't ready to get her a full-time cell phone and she has no serious need for one yet, but have been considering something we can leave with her when we run out just in case.

The 1GB data cap is no issue since it would be on Wi-Fi all the time.
Can't you just use WhatsApp for this scenario?

So for about $10 extra you get "unlimited" throttled data from good2go, which may or may not be useful.

Hello Mobile also has a $5 plan tax included and no need to commit for a year.

My granddaughter has been using textnow for over a year. It's totally free! Here are some links:

For access away from wifi the sim cards are $1.99. Here is the old thread: https://slickdeals.net/f/17296423-textnow-unlimited-talk-text-voip-sim-card-activation-kit-0-99-free-s-h?src=SiteSearch

You can top up 5GB for $10 with this plan. In case you need it. That makes it $16 per month for 6 GB. Hopefully you don't need to top up or you only need to top up occasionally
This is wrong, top-ups are much more expensive than that for the lite plan. Most of their other plans top up at $2/GB (which roll over). I couldn't find the pricing chart directly on their site, but it is on some reddit comments (replies from staff). $10 gets you 2 GB, not 5.

They have been saying for many months this pricing will decrease but who knows when.

This plan has been available for a while, and might not be the best deal especially if you want multiple lines. Someone else posted prepaidcompare.net, it's a great site to find what you want.

Note that add-on data for this plan is much more expensive than their other plans, so if you do EVER use over 1GB it's easy for this plan to become a not-great-value. If you think you will even somewhat occasionally add data, look at their Shared Data plans instead.

A huge advantage to US Mobile is (apparently) it's easy to switch your line between Verizon and T-Mobile (and they're adding an app function to let you do this yourself soon, by clicking a button in the app). They're also adding AT&T "soon" (apparently they do have beta users testing it out), and you should be able to switch between that easily as well. I read during trials you can't switch, but after that it's very easy (though currently you have to talk to customer support, though I've heard theirs is good).

Note when comparing that taxes are **VERY** important for some of us to pay attention to. My ~$6 unlimited talk/text + $2/GB data mobileX plan ended up just shy of $10/month before adding any data. When you're talking cheap plans, recovery fees can add huge percentages to otherwise low bills very quickly. Often you can't find out the fees until your first bill, either. They vary a lot by carrier even if they aren't included - some just charge sales tax, others charge more fees, etc.

At first I wanted a very inexpensive plan just for talk/text for a second line (i'd just always use data on my primary line). The cheapest I found was Hello Mobile at $5/mo all taxes included with 512 MB (T-Mobile). The lite plan is close though I didn't want to do annual with a new provider right away.

I'll probably switch to their pooled data plans: 2 lines for $18/month base all taxes/fees, I can keep one line on tmobile and the other on verizon for better coverage and still have data/etc. The top-up pricing being more expensive on the lite plan made me decide against using it. Plus it being monthly is nice just in case I do have service problems. (Like mobileX is on verizon and I expected it to be good, but it was awful coverage, lots of dropped calls, etc).

Unfortunately they got rid of the plan I was planning (heh) to get: their $15/mo annual plan changed from a 10 GB WITH tethering plan to a 10 GB soft cap and an extra charge for tethering :3

Regardless US Mobile will still be way cheaper and more versatile than, eg, Mint Mobile (which adds some hefty taxes and fees in my area).

According to the link, that's only free calling/texting, no data with their SIM cards

Is 1GB data good for a LTE smart watch? Mainly for son to wear while riding his bike and going to friends houses. Not sure how much data is consumed by these devices just for basic talk and text and tracking. No health monitoring etc.

autoplay video ads are the main culprit. They can eat up so much data just reading news articles. Gotta use adblocker.
I never heard of any ad blocker apps that can interact with a News app like Google or CNN, or even Safari or Chrome on an iPhone??

Is there a way to combine this with 1 month free plan for bringing in number?
