Actually it is an inert gas.
At neighbor's.
Yes because they don't keep them inside to sell or anything like that. Total urban legend.

Consider how difficult it is to dispose of these once spent (if you're not the "just toss it aside at the campground type"). I literally paid $100 to dispose of 6 half empties at a neighborhood hazardous chemicals disposal event yesterday.

I'm sure YMMV based on location but I searched for months to try to get rid of them and there were no other options.
Didn't know the tanks were that problematic. My local Sports Basement has a program where you pay one fee and you have access to free refillable tanks which is fantastic on the wallet and environment.

And where is 'inert' comes to the picture in this sequence of events? Other than that room being filled with 2/3 of inert gas. None of cylinder content nor any products it generates short of some kind nuclear reaction has nothing to do with inert gas. Unless you being scammed.

Why not throw it in the trash with other garbage? Serious question.

If I use these to burn weeds, how long would it be expected to last?

Cheaper and more efficient to use white vinegar and salt.

Check Amazon for the 1lb propane refill adapters. Turn your 20lb tank upside down (so the liquid propane transfers), connect to the 1lb canister using the adapter and open both valves.

Tip: Put the empty 1lb tank in the freezer for a couple of hours to reduce the pressure in it so when you connect the tanks, more liquid propane will transfer.

I have 10 coleman tank I've been refilling for years.

Hope this helps.

If you are refilling, best to get the Flame King Refillable 1lb cylinders. They are very heavy duty with all brass fittings. Also, they have a purge on them. You fill them by opening the valve on the inverted 20lb tank, opening the valve on the adapter hose, opening the purge on the 1lb cylinder. In about 10 seconds you see propane spitting out the purge, and you close the purge.

Takes like 15 seconds to get a full 1lb cylinder. Don't have to mess with putting the 1lb tank in the freezer and all those tricks to try and get a full disposable cylinder. Literally a 15 second refill process with the Flame King. That alone is worth it, aside from the fact that they are designed to be refilled, are heavy duty, all steel and brass construction, and DOT approved to transport in a vehicle. Also, if you get the Flame King Refillable, don't get the Flame King Adapter because it has a pin in it that only allows you to use it on a Flame King Refillable. Get a generic adapter hose, because it will work on both the Flame King and regular disposables. Also, get one with a hose that allows you to have the 1lb cylinder vertically (not horizontally). Otherwise you won't be able to get a full fill on anything (refillable or disposable).
