Just the opposite. I have a few of their folders and the quality is excellent. Very smooth opening and closing. Excellent steel and workmanship! Great value for the price, too!
Civivi, Bestech, and a scant few other knife makers are actually far better than USA made at the price point. A $50 Civivi rivals a $200 Benchmade (I have both and more, the Benchmade is in my pocket today but the Civivi and Bestech are also in rotation).

A lot of the old standard knife brands basically suck today. I wouldn't give a nickel for a Schrade or Case. Ka-Bar has some decent stuff, Buck too. But bang for buck, they do not rival the top chinese brands.
I just opened mine, the knife feels very well made. I agree with all the good reviews on Amazon.

They replied asking me how it broke. I said normal usage and provided picture. They gave me 2 options - pay $5 and they would send me replacement blade only and I would self service the repair. Option 2, mail in to a service center with me paying postage and they will repair.

Wish I didn't have to pay anything, but it's better than nothing.

Thanks for the response.
I was ready to throw it out, so this at least a better alternative for me.

It seems with inflation all companies are being cheap/cutting cost too.

I love Civivi (have 15 of them) but no it doesn't rival a $200 bechmade. Steel in the benchmade would be better. I will say that for the $ Civivi is one of the best around.

Why doesn't it have a double-lock? There's no use for a knife that during hard use can be accidentally closed, severing all your fingers off, if it's sharp enough.

Even the CRKT Hissatsu has a double-lock, and it's not very expensive

benchmade are good knives but not for the prices they are asking, regardless of the steel.
I use to agree with you, till the Adamas came out with cru-wear steel. If I ever have a day where I feel like I might need to cut my way out of an elevator or armored car, I carry it. Edge retention, brute strength, I have never had a knife before that I have such confidence in.

The CV/BT chinese brands I carry when I might have to use them as screwdrivers, dig in the dirt, or lose it. I have zero emotional connection to them and they "do the job" but they do not compare to the cru-wear. But, they are 1/4th the price.

I will add that even the BEST knife I had 30 years ago is nowhere near as good as the worst knife I have today.

A number of Chinese manufacturers use 3V and 4V (not sure any I know offhand use cruwear but I wouldn't be shocked), Kizer is the one I see most (and I have some of both as well as 10V from them). Now the Adamas is pretty heavily built, but there are plenty of high end blade steels used by the better Chinese manufacturers.

Double locks are seldom necessary in quality knives. They are (outside of a few shockingly heavy duty knives and some that use it as a novelty). There are certainly some examples out there but it's not particularly popular.

I like the Hissatsu for what it is, BTW - but I wouldn't be surprised if the double lock was because they've had some similar lock designs fail and injure people (and they have).

Serious question, was the normal use just cutting or some other tasks? Thanks

Dropped the point straight down into a block of wood from about 6 inches. No prying or twisting to get the blade out, just pulled straight up and the tip didn't come with it

Which local laws? I can buy knives from almost any retailer, eBay, Ali, etc. If this was the case of local laws then all retailers would be banning shipment of knives to my state. This is purely Amazon thing.
The reason Amazon would prevent shipment is because they are required to... and that would be because of your local laws. Amazon is hardcore.

If someone on Ali or eBay is breaking the rules, well... that's eBay or Ali. I wouldn't reference them as the standard for doing things 100% the right way. Some random dude, or even company, selling on eBay probably doesn't know or care if he is breaking the law.

And it's probably only a matter of time before Ali or eBay also adds geographic restrictions.

Sure, all knife manufacturers and dealers are breaking the laws. I buy knives direct from manufacturer sites and from major knife retailers without any issues, they all ship to my state.

Who do you think has better knowledge of the laws about knives - companies who specialize in knives or Amazon which sells millions of products?
