Time as well. Plus, you can adjust the time to daylight savings with just a push of one button.
Hint: Plug a small battery charger with "float" function into one of these and connect that charger to your lawn equipment, motorcycle, ATV, boat, etc. and set it to turn on for 30 minutes a day or so. Keeps your battery from self-discharging and shortened life, and it's always at full charge when you're ready to ride. It's a lot gentler on the battery than leaving it on a maintainer 24/7, and my intermittent use batteries last for many years with a similar dial timer/charger setup.

Do these make any noise at all? Like a gear winding noise.

They likely only click once when turning on or off. There are no moving parts other than an internal relay that makes the click when switching output, so no constant noise like the old style dial timers make. Those have a motor that runs all the time and can be annoying.

27/41 one star reviews. Average 3.8.
I was scratching my head trying to figure out how that math worked...it's actually 27 out of 141. Which is still not great, but a lot better than 27 out of 41 Wink
Mostly the 1-stars seem to complain about them being hard to program. Some quality control issues also, but 2 for 7 bucks I'm not really expecting great quality control.

You could pay people to take 24 carat gold bricks, and someone will surely complain about how heavy they are. Sifting through reviews, after a while you can tell which ones to take with a grain of salt. For me, well written sentences, decent punctuation, and an orderly stream of written thoughts tell me that a review deserves some weight. A lot of folks are heavy handed in reviews because they refuse to read simple instructions or didn't do enough research to buy the product for the right purpose.

With something this cheap from a well-known name brand, it's kind of a no brainer. If they both fail tomorrow, you're out the cost of a Subway sandwich. If they work out of the box, chances are that they will work for a long time. It's actually quite impressive that they can make something like this for $3.50 a pop and still make a profit.

The negative reviews are generally not helpful. I can disregard any complaints about the complexity of setting these - all of them require patience and close attention; that's the nature of the device. I have all different kinds of these and none of them are what I would call "easy" to program, though some are obviously easier than others. If you write out your programming scheme prior to programming, it becomes significantly easier.

These don't have a RND function to randomize (to some extent) on/off times, which some people consider to be a security feature.

Its simple and works very well for a single unit control. We used it for Xmas tree in the past.
With more Xmas lighting decoration added, we upgraded to kaza smart plugs. This way we can synchronize them in a group and make changes easier.

Anyone know the smallest time interval this can do? Is it 15 min or 5 min? Probably not a seconds or 1 minute capability for this price...?

These are programmable in 1-minute increments, so "ON" time can range from 1 minute to 23 hours and 59 minutes per day, with 2 separate ON/OFF cycles available for the times of day that you choose. There's a very helpful programming video posted to YouTube, which also helps familiarize you with these prior to making a purchase decision. Link:

That's actually not bad at all. Most mechanical timers including this companies, I have 1, and they're 15 min if not 30min increments. I have 2 digital ones that have a timing circulate function and can go to seconds. For instance, you can have it turn on for 3 seconds and off for 2 minutes all day.

edit: I paid 10 for each tho on Amazon, killer deal, 2 for 20, for those kind. But then again, for growing indoors, lots of lights can't be connected to them. I use them for water pumps for hydroponics.

Those are generally called repeat cycle timers and are common in the industrial controls and automation space, Amazon has some that are pretty cheap and come with an 11-pin octal socket that they plug into, which allows for 5-second replacement if one ever fails. I see them commonly used in residential aerobic sewer treatment systems to run the air pump.

Interesting. I wonder why they need such a short cycle for their air pumps for the aerobic swimming pools. To keep them extra clean I'm guessing? But extra oxygen means more bacteria proliferation?

I paid $16.21 for these in October 2014 - still on the first one for the morning wakeup lamp.

I paid $10.99 for a digital 15-amp 3-prong timer in 2016 and it didn't last half a year opening and closing a 24V relay that really didn't need to be grounded in the first place. Should have just used the second one of these.
