They don't have eSIM capabilities.
They are not even Android-based.
It is definitely not a touchscreen UI on the handset.
Navigation is with a physical keypad.
I don't see any copyright credits in the About screens that say Google or Android.
According to the phonescoop website it is a proprietary OS.

User reports indicate you can. I haven't personally tried, so take this with a grain of salt: but it sounds best to do it through the online portal, choosing to keep your number when asked during activation.
There are mixed reports of how exactly to go about doing this.
Maybe someone who's done it can chime in on the exact steps to apply these to an existing line.

ASOP is Android…
But yea, all I'm finding about this phone is that it's "custom os" .. probably still built off ASOP LOL

Okay, do these come with physical nano-SIM cards?
Because the product page states they do not come with SIM cards . But users are saying they are activating SIM cards.
Im guessing this discrepancy is due to these phones coming with a physical SIM card already installed IN the phone rather than the old way separately in a prepaid-type cardboard SIM card "card" that you had to install yourself into the phone tray.
Can someone verify if this is the case?
Is it not possible to activate these with the keep your own number option?

People want/expect an Android phone to run the same apps that other phones do.
This phone is not an everyday phone for power users. Only good for use as a burner or kids' phone. It is expendable or for harvesting.
