On my desktop - there should be an HP utility that checks your warranty date and then provides you with an offer code. YMMV but hope you can find it.

I saw it on the other laptop. Crap I can't find it to come back up now. Thanks! There are like tons of warranties. It was just the 3 year with accident protection?

I actually googled it and could use the code for the accidental warranty . But it didn't work for the theft warranty.

I got the offer today, thank you! This says "3 year pickup and return support w accidental damage protection". Does it cover part failure? It isn't clear that it's an "extended warranty" for parts that fail.

I picked this up yesterday. It's pristine and runs well, minimal fan noise, screen is beautiful, and gives me 10+ hours of battery life. In short, ignore the haters - if you can get your hands on this at this price, it's totally worth it for the productivity-focused buyer.

Also as a PSA, I was given an offer to extend my warranty (HP Care Pack; 3 years with accidental care; risk free = if you don't use it within the three years, they issue the purchase price as a rebate) - this came with a coupon for 33% off (OFFER33 coupon code) and an ongoing , bring my total cost to $36.17 + tax.

I'll admit that it seems people have mixed experiences with repairs through HP with the extended warranty in place. Same with getting the refund at the conclusion of the warranty period - some success stories and some stories of frustration. I can't comment on these processes but the price for this extended warranty inclusive of repairs + accidental damage is right. So this is something else to sweeten the deal if you can get your hands on this laptop. Best of luck.

Are we sure this covers parts? It seems like it's more for service coverage and damage coverage. It's not really clear when I got the offer.

For the HP Care pack, I took a deeper look at the theft protection option. It seems to just install lojack in the bios. There doesn't seem to coverage if the laptop is actually stolen. It just provides the peace of mind that it will be trackable and lockable.

Makes the theft protection less attractive.

I bought the Vivobook you listed, and used both side by side. The display was not nearly as bright. The laptop ran hot and fans were much louder. Keyboard backlight was horrific and uneven. ASUS loads all kinds of software to protect the OLED. I am very happy with this and paid the $80 for the 2 year warranty. Battery life is FAR better than the Vivobook and it's not as buggy, I noticed all kinds of issues even after ASUS updates.
THANKS FOR THE FIRST-HAND COMPARISON! At $479.99 there really is no comparison, I've been getting so much utility with the HP especially with Blender, just a caveat that HIP optimization does not play well with 780M and 7840HS in Blender but it is still fast enough without it.

Good deal, yeah the Vivobook was like a polished turd. It didn't live up to my expectations.

I got the warranty but it only shows 1 year in HP Support Assistant. You have to call the HP Care warranty team and send them a screenshot of your warranty..they have to file a ticket to manually get it fixed ..it's a big with refurbs...FYI to anyone reading this that buys the extended warranty. Look up "HP Support Assistant" in Windows and it will show your warranty coverage.

Thanks OP. Local Microcenter had one open box marked down to $407. Picked it up. Hopefully there's nothing wrong with it.

Anyone tried using their $25 off $100 new customer coupon on refurb laptops? I know the coupon doesn't work on open box items unless you get a manager to override it, but not sure if it also excludes refurbished laptops. Would be a good deal with the $25 off. Can't get myself to buy it at $480 considering Costco sold these for $599 brand new in December.

Considering cost vs. performance - comparing to a Thinkpad T14, is it worth 2x the cost? T14 is ~$1k on eBay.

The ThinkPad is definitely the better laptop (in every way, including performance). Unsure if it's 2x better though.

FYI, the $25 off $100 new customer coupon works on this laptop. Just picked mine up for $455+tax.

Looks brand new. Not a single sign of it being used. Has a refurbished sticker on the bottom and says certified refurbished on the box.

Build quality is pretty decent. Definitely better than those plasticky Dells, and better than I expected. All metal build really helps.

Setting it up now. It has been running nearly silent during updates and also cool to touch. Will run some benchmarks after setting it up.

Battery wear is 0%, and only 2 cycles on it. Shows a full charged capacity of 69109mWh, which is higher than the designed capacity.

Only 5 hours on the SSD. So this laptop was barely used before it was returned/refurbished.

In my HP, it says warranty expires 5/5/2025. That's over 1 year of warranty. Does anyone know if this warranty actually applies to my laptop even though it is a refurbished product? I thought it only came with a 90 day warranty.
