Picked up the open box at the Paterson, NJ location yesterday. Battery has 3 charge cycles and the laptop looks pretty clean. The techs said it was returned due to overheating / loud noise. (If you returned it and it legit has overheating problems, ping me!)
Other than doing a factory reset I haven't had time to use it. Fans are definitely louder than I'm used to. $421 OTD though, I may suck it up…

You can just run some stress tests to see it it overheats. One thing I noticed about mine is just how cool it runs compared to my Intel laptops. Fan noise is a bit annoying, but overheating is definitely not an issue.
I just got one, since it's refurbished and I never seen this before can anyone tell me when the display is off, is it normal that the glass reflection isn't 1:1 like a mirror, there's a bend to the reflection like fun house mirrors?
I've never seen this on mac, iphone, ipad etc. don't know if this is normal for PC.
As CrimsonWeather mentioned earlier, the HP Care Pack is excellent.
You can find it by google HP Care Pack and selecting the option with Pavilion 14.
Instead of the package above, I would recommend getting the 3 year with the additional theft prevention. It's more expensive at 100 bucks. But also risk free, eg if your laptop doesn't get stolen or if you didn't request for any repairs, you get the insurance costs back (excluding about $15 in tax).
Of course, arguably, you could have needed repair services (and not have it stolen). But without an oracle, and knowing how laptops get stolen constantly, it will give you a peace of mind
If you read the description, theft protection doesn't do jack. They install some "Find my iPhone" type software on your laptop and give an option to remotely wipe it. Which is useless since you can (and should) use full disk encryption anyway.
I also have to wonder if they'll even honor the warranty, since Micro Center says 90 days only. So what it says certified refurbished on the box? Could as well say new. What matters is what's written on the store page and receipt.
Edit: Also, neither the care pack you nor the poster above you cited are compatible with this model. You're supposed to go to https://cpc2.ext.hp.com/ and enter your product #. It'll list all compatible packs. The cheapest risk-free care pack that works with Pavilion Plus 14 costs $170.
As a side note, this link is also how you can check the real age of your laptop. When you enter the product #, you get 2 dropdown items. If you click on the one w/o the "R" at the end, the warranty start date is the original purchase date. If others could share their original start dates here, we could have a few data points and see how old these refurbs really are. Mine says, "25/10/2023."

The Envy is a 2-in-1 and has better speakers, possibly better cooling, slightly newer CPU.
This has a better GPU.
