The pickups are good enough. It's a common upgrade to swap them out but I think they're perfectly acceptable.
Bought it, we will see. Thanks for the insight

I had this exact model for two years and I love it. No it's not a $1500 charvel that has a true Floyd however, after you set it up, take some time to do a basic set up on a Floyd Rose equip guitar it stays in tune after dive bombs repeatedly. This was perfect for my first Floyd rose guitar. However, I would highly recommend a beginner to not get a guitar with Floyd Rhodes, and rather a hard tail as it can be daunting if you don't know what you're doing but with YouTube nowadays, it's so simple the pick ups are screaming hot, and would be the only thing I would swap out for my occasional Floyd rose guitar even with the pick ups, nearly flat to the body. They still have a very hot sizzle.

How are the pickups on this? Also I have always been confused. When it refers to dinky, does that mean it's smaller than a typical guitar in length or body size? Like how much smaller is it than an Ibanez RG550?

screaming hot

Received this guitar it is set up great. Low action only low e string out of intonation. The nut to attach the trem arm was not in box. Glad I got it

As mentioned, pickups are screaming hot and midrangey. Great for classic metal and hard rock. For downtuned modern metal and good cleans you might want something with more high end.

No. The Floyd Rose trem, and any other type of trem, is a lot of fun. But it's also a lot of extra work to tune and keep in tune. For a first guitar you want a "hardtail", which means any guitar without a tremolo mechanism.

("Tremolo" is the guitarist term for "a thing on the bridge with a long lever sticking out of it that lets you bend notes." This is wrong: pitch bending is called "vibrato." Leo Fender got this wrong in the 1950s and everyone since has stuck with his wrong usage.)

Picked one of these up and love it. The bridge pickup at 15.6k is exactly what I was missing for heavier metal tone vs what's on les pauls for humbuckers. Slightly neck heavy, dives a little but not terrible. Really can't beat the price if you're wanting to metal it up.

Got Musicians Friend to match the price. Its very nice. Don't let them tell you adorama is not an authorized dealer, they are listed on Jackson's Website. Was able to use my points so it was even a better deal!
