I hope you guys ended up with a better guitar than this guy. GC and MF are getting rediculous with the crap they try to sell as new.

I'm not the least bit surprised by that. GC has a reputation for doing that. I've had personal experience with that myself. They will liquidate stock from all the stores to supply closeout sales like this. Even if you insist on getting a NIB. So I was quite surprised at what just happened with me.I was able to order one from this posting. It went OOS hours after I ordered it. Day or 2 later, I got an email from GC saying it was OOS except for one at a specified store out of state. I had the option of taking it or refusing it. It would not have the original box or packing. I said I'd take it only because I could easily return it to the local GC store. Glad I did. It was in a single box, but it was very well packed with bubble wrap. Not s mark on it anywhere! Either from shipping or the store. So I'm quite surprised how well that went. Not as happy with the quality of the Squier. Tone control was loose, but able to tighten the nut to the body. The holes in the knobs are too large for the shaft, but can carefully centered. Fret sprout, will need some dressing. Strings a bit too high. Definitely needs a full setup. Sounds good. Will be a good bass after a decent setup.
